Traded my 08 Mazdaspeed 3 in this past weekend

I traded my speed3 in a few months back as well. the srt-6 though not my cup of tea, looks pretty nice

This isn't mine but it's the same color (Silver Sapphire Blue)

It's quite a unique car, and it has the power to back it up!

That one looks good with the 5-spokes and suspension.

Not a bad car overall. I like things that are different, and the AMG engine is hard to argue with.

I'd probably make a different choice since I've gotten into track days, and right now the MS3 is quite good out there.

Boosted S2k's are nice but not all that. This is me chasing a supercharged one at Texas World Speedway. Granted he pulls me pretty good on the front straight, but ultimately I'm quite a bit faster per lap so he has to let me by. In this configuration my car only put down 255whp. The S2k has quite a bit more power and less weight. I thought I wanted an S2k until I did this track day with an S2k club and none of them were a challenge for the MS3 on street tires. I still have a few mods and tweaks to go yet, not to mention a step up to DOT-R's.

ps. sorry about the audio.

eh the embedding is not working....

That looks like a ton of fun!

It's like a drug. I need a fix from my track dealer every now and then or I suffer bad withdrawal symptoms. ;)

Well, he did pull away, but it wasn't dramatic.

I'd say MS3 does quite well, considering it's got "4 doors and a boot." [/J. Clarkson]

back to a honda. the new accords are really nice and with 265 hp it has some grunt

I actually test drove a new Accord Coupe V6 and was very dissapointed. Even the Mazdaspeed3 felt faster over all areas of the rpm band (sans above 5500).

I do however love the way they look. It felt slow and disconnected. PS It was an Auto though- that may have had something to do with it. The Honda dealer claimed Manual Coupe V6's were rare. (hand)

It is a tick slower than the speed3, but since their is no turbo kick it feels much slower. It has family car suspension so the speed3 definately has more road feel

It's got more torque and a better power to weight ratio. The S2000 is the only Honda comparable performance wise.

The base Crossfire sucks balls. Looks cool... but handles like s*** and is severely under-powered. The SRT-6 on the other hand is bad ass!! The fact that it's a Chrysler (albeit with Benz DNA) makes it a hell of a deal on the open market. (best of both worlds... resale's in the shitter due to the brand but it's a blast to drive thanks to its makeup.)

But unless you live somewhere warm and pretty much NEVER have to load up your car with anything of any significance (the cargo space in these cars is downright pathetic) this car simply cannot be a daily driver. So the idea of trading in an MS3 (arguable the world's best daily driver... blast to drive and tons of practicality... on the cheap) for this is... a bit odd. I understand he's got a second vehicle (H3?) so that explains that...

As much as I'd love to have a "weekend toy" type of car... It just doens't make any financial sense at this stage of my life. I mean, as great of a deal as this SRT-6 was... it was still $19k! That's a lot of money to spend on a car that'll barely see the light of day for 4 months of the year. Factor in the added cost of insurance and taxes and... if it were me, I would've ditched the hummer and just drove the MS3 year-round. I'm guessing the OP is in a far better financial situation than I so more power to him!

agreed, the accord shouldnt be compared to the speed3 cuz its a totally different car. I wouls take a s2000 over speed3 for sure. Both cars are fun, but comparing a station wagon to a 2 seater convertable just doesnt add up

I believe the MS3 is a hatchback not a station wagon. And while they may be very different cars on the surface, they both are designed to go fast and handle well. It's not a logical comparison, but it's not out of the question. I'd love to see them both go around a track like laguna seca stock for stock and see what turns in faster lap times.

if its got four swinging doors and a hatch, its a station wagon. can't we just get over making up new names and sub names for things? i'm so sick of terms like "crossover" or "sport activity vehicle" or even "SUV", when most of them are just FRIGGIN TRUCKS. what the hell really is a "crossover" anyways? JEEZ. i would think its a point of pride to have a really quick "station wagon".

I guess I see that argument.
