ok not really hardcore backfire, but sometimes i get a little pop shifting from 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th, and that's it. no other gears backfire/pop
any ideas? i checked the recirc and vacuum hoses, they are tight with no leaks and very minimal kinks if any. i have the hks specific kit.

how long ago did you install the valve?
the v2 hks ssqv basically has to teach itself its parameters, whereas other valves require "tuning" (either tightening an allen head or putting a different spring or shims in)

very true, im running mine VTA and i very rarely get a back fire. It only seems to do it at low RPM shifts when im in the throttle a little bit more then needed haha

it's a v2 with the fins
installed maybe 2-3 weeks ago?

Its normal, the hks is known for some entertaining backfires. It will not hurt your car.

ah ok, like i said it doesnt happen like clockwork, just random times
it will give me a noticeable pop from 2-3 and 3-4

did anyones gas mileage go down with this bpv ?
i used to get around 290 a full tank with just the cobb sri
now im getting 240 ish

im hoping it's the winter blend of gas causing this..

you mentioned you checked your "recirc" hose. Is your recirculated then? If you run it VTA your mpg will surely go down. I recirculated my valve after getting tired of the bad mpg and backfires all the time
