So I was watching a video on youtube of a MZSPD 3 racing a civic hatch. He "brake boosted" on a roll (I`m assuming around 40 mph)on one a few runs and took off like a bat out of hell. What is braking boosting and how does it work and how is it applied? Explanations would be great thanks!

step on the gas whilst braking so you don't actually gain speed. by doing this you're spooling your turbo to it's max but still waiting for that 3rd horn honk to happen before you actually race

no turbo lag = race NOW

oh yea and not so good for the brakes

how much brake pedal do you apply? and do you go wot + brake enough to maintain the same speed as the other guy?

For a weaker lower end, the added engine load probably isn't a good thing to play with.

i assume you just have to get a feel for it, and there's no "50% brake and 75% throttle" type procedure.

basically you're putting enough load on the engine that your turbo is spooling at max, but you're braking enough to maintain whatever roll-on speed you chose for that particular race

seriously don't recommend it

this was discussed in a thread not too long ago. do a search. if i remember correctly someone thoroughly explained why this is a terrible thing to do

haha screw the TC just watch the vid to learn how to brake boost

That b**** did look slow as hell though......

I wouldn't ever brake boost my car. Nothing really rolling on the streets around here that can take an MS3. Pretty boring, actually. It's either a 911 Turbo or a bad ricer civic that wants to race me. So I either instantly win, or just get destroyed :P

hehehe... he even had his driving gloves on (=FAIL)... nice clean installation on the gauges there also... :)

that has got to be pretty hard on the turbo... or other parts...

i would like to see what happens when he misses that fourth to second shift... BLAMMMO

Few TC's I've seen around here running turbos. Sloooooow.

i know someone around my area that is running a tc with a turbo. last i saw him he had it dynoed to like 450whp. and he was still running the stock wheels and tires

he assured me that he had rwd conversion plans. i would think it would be simpler to start out with something rwd (duh) and go from there, but he just likes tc and toyotas too much. i told him he shoulda started with an is300

Man that car sounds like s***

idk anything about the car, i was interested in brake boosting one day, found the vid and marked it for later so if someone asked. i guess if you have aftermarket clutch/drive train/turbo you wouldn't have anything to worry about, but for stoker, wouldn't even think about it.

I can't believe people would put all that damage to their car just for that. That tiny bit or nothing is not worth it for sure. I bet who ever does this gets a good shaking in the wheel after a few times. Warped rotors any one?
