2008.5 mazdaspeed 3 black
so i have been a lurker here for a long ime, but this is my first post.
i got my speed 3 in july to replace my f150 harley davidson truck that went through 4 transmissions in 100,000 miles. i love my speed 3.
on saturday i was parked in a public lot, i was in a nice end spot away from other cars and door dings, safe... or so i thought...
i get back to my car and there is a on the driverside window saying "we saw someone hit your car and leave" these good samaritans actually got the make model and license plate of the car that backed into me!! i walk around the car and come to the front driverside fender which is totally smashed in...
it sucks to be the victim of a hit and run, but i am REALLY lucky someone left a note!
car is in the bodyshop getting a new fender and paintjob, i am worried about color matching the black mica though.

Damn that sucks! Thats awesome someone got their plate. Did you report that to the police/your insurance, the plate i mean.

LOL we did report it to the police, but a hit and run with no injuries or blocked traffic is very low on their priority list, so we waited for 2.5 hours and who should show up but the b**** who hit me!!!!!!
my gf and i were able to run her down, and get her information!!! then my GF whos brother is a cop in santa cruz did the most amazing thing, she got the woman to sign a document saying she hit my car and fled the scene without leaving a note!!!!! i would've never thought of that!!
the police do have the license plate number, and my insurance does too, but because we were actually able to get her info, her insurance is footing the bill

i was SUPER lucky!! lucky that someone left a note, lucky it was only one panel that got damaged, and really lucky the person came back!!
now i'll just have to rally a rental car till mine is back tray donuts anyone>

That sucks to hear but I am glad it is working out for ya! You'll enjoy it anymore when you get it back on the road!

I definately did that to someone crap subburban one day. Trying to miss the nice Audi on my left i clipped their back left fender, left a good sized dent. The woman wasn't there so started asking around until i found her.

Glad you found the person and she fessed up. Weak that she tried to get away. They should be able to make that good as new.

If it's a halfway decent body shop they should be able to match the black mica paint just fine. I had similar damage to my front right fender when I hit a pole and the replacement is indistinguishable from the original. They get the paint straight from Mazda (at least, the shop I went to did :))

matching the paint on a new car isn't hard but I don't understand why they are not going to blend the door and the hood? It's usually the bad insurance companies that dont pay for blends AND WET SENDING/BUFFING after the car is painted. Sometimes your clear won't match the structure of the factory clear :)

they are blending from door, A-pillar, and hood. my dad is really good friends with the guy that owns the shop so he is helping us out alot

Go to your dealership and see if they have a bodyshop, just incase you have any problems it will be covered under their lifetime warranty.
