Yes, and if you ever had an electrical failure later down the line, a douchy dealership could claim it was due to incorrect wiring, or tampering with the OEM wiring system. Put the money into something that will increase the speed IMHO.

The only reason I started looking into this is becasue after getting sandblasted big time on a road trip the entire car is getting repainted. I figured for the price of prepping the side mirrors to be refinished I could just buy the mirror cowls and have them painted. I'm still debating because of the wiring and cant decide if I like the look or not.
Conversely, since you're getting the car repainted, you can have the shop remove the stock side markers and end up with just the mirror markers. That'll certainly look different but of course, cost quite a bit more to do.
