Map Updates for Nav system

Does anybody know what has actually been updated from version "C" to "E"? I just want to know if it's worth updating. If it's just more POI's, then I don't think it's worth it.

Response from Mazda

I sent an email to Mazda about a navigation update and got the following response:

Thank you for contacting Mazda!

Updated Navigation Discs can be purchased from a new website that will be launching in the next few months. Mazda is now working with a vendor by the name of DENSO to develop the updated software for the maps in your vehicle.

The web address is mazdanavigation.com

Please keep in mind that navigation maps run approximately one year behind as to allow time for new software development. For the 2008 model year, there should be a 2007 disc available. 2008 year maps should be released sometime in early 2009.

If you have any other questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Assistance Center directly.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

how do you guys know which version your cx9 is running? thanks.

Just open the DVD drive in the trunk, and take a look at the disk. It will have a series of numbers and letters on it that specify your version.

So I found two other ways: 1) Look at the included DVD sleeve; 2) Goto Nav Setup, Calibration, Map Version.

Unfortunately, my brand new CX-9 with 14 miles that I purchased this month actually came with version A. Arggh!!!

Can anyone help me out and provide me with C, D, or E?

Thanks!

Wow that really sucks, we bought our 2008 GT in February and at least we got version "C". I'd complain to the dearership.

To add insult to injury. I just realized I think I have a CX-7 DVD installed in my CX-9. How in the world did this happen?

So maybe it's not THAT outdated after all. Mine is CX-9 DVD, rev B, and maps on that one are 2006 version. You've got 2007 maps. Not too bad!

I'm sure if you go back to your dealer and complain, they'll give you the correct DVD.

BTW, have you already filled out the questionnaire from Mazda? You know, the one about your buying experience? From what I know, car salespeople are always very eager to get perfect marks on those questionnaires. They always beg you to give them a perfect score. So if they refuse to give you the most recent navi DVD, just mention you'll give them a bad review in the questionnaire...

Good luck! Let us know how it all ends, and what's the latest version of that elusive navigation DVD (if you ever get one). ;)

My CX-9 with a build date of april 2008 doesn't list any of the costco's around me. The closest one it says is in another state a hundred miles away when there are two or three within 10 miles of me and none are new. I'll check my DVD version. Maybe I have an old one.

Here is a response to an email I sent Mazda USA

I got the DVD in the mail today and it works perfectly with the system. Haven't had the chance to see if any of the POI's were updated.

Did anyone ever get the updated E dvd? Or even rslam, would you be willing to upload the D? There's no more on ebay or anywhere for <215 unfortunately. I'm still running the original GP9A-66-DZ0 and its sorely out of date. There's a group buy for E going on over at mazda 6 club - but if someone has the DVD and can rip for us (I can even provide a place to upload it for everyone).. it'd save atleast a dozen of us some cash.. Thanks guys!
