US News Best Cars for the Money 2009

yeah, getting back on topic. It will be interesting to find out how the Mazda5 does in the next few months. I wonder if it will continue to grow in popularity or cool off.

I don't know man, a few years ago I'd be on your side, but they've really stepped things up. My mom got a sonata (granted, different car but I'm assuming the change was comapny wide) last year and I laughed out loud when she told me what she had, but after seeing/driving it over the winter after I was "put in my place", it's really a nice car, especially for the money. Now, being a nice car and staying a nice car are two completely separate things so I guess time will tell how well it holds up, but initial quality is pretty high.

I'm gonna' agree with you here. I know several people with Hyundais now. The Sonata really is a nice car. We also looked at Hyundai when we shopped for the 5. OK, we looked at everything. But Hyundai had some interesting choices. They are getting more expensive as the quality improves though.

Yep, my mom got hers at a great time, just when they were turning it around and were VERY willing to deal. Now that they're becoming more "legit" I've noticed prices creeping up as well. Then again, prices are going up on accords/camry/insert competitive car here as well so it may not be a bad thing per ce.

I remember when Honda first entered the market with their first Civic in the early 70s. Back then the big three were DOMINANT and most people laughed at it because it was so small. Most people chuckled when they saw it dismissing at a novelty... Fast Forward about 35 years later.

I know the Kia is consistently ridiculed in these threads, but they've actually come along way since they first came on the scene. They actually had one vehicle on the list which is better than some larger car name plates.

As Vehicles eventually reach 'equal perfection'... The Dealership performance at providing support will start to make a difference in the buying decision.
