I think you need to get euro firmware for the 'system' itself
as we dont have any of your problem(over here U.K) you can happily play about with it on the move- now if only some one could get rid of the annoying nag/agree screen i would be much happier....

Does anyone know what someone can do to be able and use the navigation system while moving? Its not connected to the e-brakes or even brakes in general. When the car moves over like 2 mph it is not usable. Anything we can do to use it in the freeway? Hell with pulling over when your lost(rant)

(iagree) It definitely uses VSS. In the navi pinout, there's a wire labelled "Speed" which, i'm thinking, can be tricked if temporarily switched to GND with a 3-way switch. I don't know about gyro's, though. But there is a sticker on the top of the navi computer, too, which I think says "Trash if dropped" or something along those lines, so who knows....
