Whats going with the 09 mazda 6?

maybe ppl meant "AT" as Dual Clutch Sequential (like the Evo MR and GTR)?
I remember reading it on a "rumor report" about the next MS6

Well there are pictures out about the 2010 MazdaSPEED3 and well there isn't much about the new SPEED6 although I am still crossing my fingers about the euroSPEED6 being sent over unchanged... that way the 6 is still a family car to kill Camery and Accord and the SPEED will be awesome to us motorheads and the euro does look better then the 6 we get in the states.

The new 6 is an unbelievable car for the money and the class benchmark by far IMO. However a small group of enthusiasts have taken it upon themselves to hound 09 owners with negative posts on any new thread they start on the most popular Mazda forums, so they just don't post about their cars anymore.

Interesting post, links ???? (band2)

I just did it... with out even knowing it... I said the euro looks better then the US 6...

Most of the 1st gen 6 owners think the 2nd gen 6 is just a mid size sedan and not the same car they love...

I like the new 6 but I like the euro just a little more!

But if you look at any thread you'll see what he's talking about.

I have to agree. The new 09 6 is just another nice run of the mill borderline mid size Camry/Accord/Altima. What I loved about the 1st Gen, especially the Speed6 was the excitement level everytime I get in the car. I test drove several new 6s, 4cyl AT & MT, as well as the V6. It seems Mazda has lost its "Soul of a sports car" in this 2nd Gen. I'll wait for the next Speed6 before trading up. Hopefully we can get the Japanese version which will further set the car apart from this new boring but nice 2nd Gen 6. Better yet, I miss my hatchback, but gave it up to get a Speed6. My figures are crossed.(drive2)

I just bought the Mazda 6 in the grand touring and I really like it. As with any cars there are things I would change especially the lag in this car from the 1st to 2nd shift while in manual sport shift and a little extra movement in the steering when you are in a turn and accelerating. Otherwise it is a great car and I got a great deal on a 32k car fully loaded for 27k. I'll post pics soon and hopefully we can get some more people to post here about their new 6.

Oh well, seems u guys are hard to please haha (cryhard)

So, lets go back to the basics, numbers, how many new 6s are selling per month.....we need data, links. Otherwise...(burp)

I also want to know a bit more info and impressions about this car, since I'd like to try and talk my mom into buying this one; though she's determined to buy a accord...

The '09 Accord is an amazing car! I like it over the '09 Mazda6, but I would pick the CX-7 over the Accord.

Hmmmm......lets see. The Accord is slower, doesn't handle as good, doesn't look as good, interior is not even remotely comparable, has a smaller back seat, a waaay smaller trunk, less available features, got worse gas mileage in the Edmunds test even though its rated higher, did I mention its ugly?

Yeah, Accord defintely seems like the choice there.

I test drove both and liked the Accord tons more. It was a Mazda6 S GT and the Accord EX-L V6 with Navi.
The front seat in the Mazda felt small and I drive a Mazda3 so thats really saying something. The seat didn't feel at all comfy like the CX-7 and I felt like everything was way to close to me. I thought it felt cheap but yes the trunk is HUGE and you can tell when you look at the car. The Euro 6 is very pretty the US spec... is okay. (And yes I moved the seat back)

The Accord felt big and nice, I love the way the Accord looks, the V6 had plenty of power for me, where when I drove the Mazda I felt like it was lacking something... many tranny maybe.
I thought the leather in the Honda was 100X better than the 6's the navi and bluetooth/hands free everything in the Accord was nice too. I like the fact that I can controll the radio, gps, ac, and bluetooth with just my voice it was pretty sweet.

Everything that the Mazda had the Accord had or it had something compairable to it. The Mazda out beats the Honda by 1HP... REALLY?

Oh and the best part? The Honda was less.
Accord $32,577
Mazda6 $33,320

But I like the CX-7 a lot and it's $31,855 fully loaded... (Not AWD.)

Myself and just about every journalist who has reviewed the Mazda 6 disagree with just about everything you posted. The leather is second to none in this price range. Mazda seats are the most comfortable seats in the under $40k price range by a country mile. I have 44k on my CX-7 and the new 6 seats are every bit as comfortable, maybe a step beyond. Honda does not make a "drivers" cockpit in any of their cars, so I don't know what you are talking about there. The controls in the new Accord are poorly layed out and not user friendly in the slightest. Speed isn't about HP ratings, the 6 beat the Accord in the 1/4 mile by a full second in Edmunds head to head test. I realise these cars aren't bought for drag racing, but that statistic is important to those who by the V6 model.

The Accord is a decent car, but the new 6 is better. And you can't expect to make a vague statement like you did on a Mazda forum and not have someone challenge it. :D

I am not a fan of the new mazda camry nor the new mazda smiley. Although their interiors are very sharp.

Its not about how much you like the new 6, its about comparing it directly to the Accord. Some of the enthusiasts are disappointed that the new 6 is not what they hoped for, but the bottom line is its better than the Accord/Camry.

The thread isn't, but it was hijacked by skylar.

Now, I was the one who said that I wanted to know more about the car and said that my family's options are an Accord and a new 6, so I must say I appreciate all, especially first hand, impressions. Tough In all honesty I wasn't expecting an opinion favorable to an Accord in a Mazda forum too. In any case, this causes activity in this rather stale forum, that can't be bad can it?? :P

Styling-wise, I like the new 6, but don't I also don't like the smileyface(3), and feel fortunate I bought my car(08.5 MS3) in the design it came in and I can relate as to why old 6 users would feel the new one isn't in the same spirit as the old one; they did take it a bit more mainstream in regards to size, but also in fit and finish (not bad when you're comparing with Honda and Toyota IMO). In any case, it seems to be working since at least in my town, where there are a fair share of previous gen 6, there are a ton of new ones, so if they are selling them well, they must be doing someting right.
