Nurburgring 8min 39secs

yeah, it was posted a while ago, but it's all good, love to see the speed3 on the track. The most interesting thing is this guy was new the car and new to the track and still pulled off an 8:39.

Has any professionals pulled any times with the speed3? I know the cobalt did it in 8:22 but that was with a pro driver that knew the car and the track very very well. If my memory serves me right, it is the same guy that got the awesome time in the ZR1.

just for comparison:

The Nissan GT-R set the 'Ring on fire back in April with a single lap of 7:29. That news didn't go over well in Germany, where team Porsche insinuated that Nissan cheated by using a non-standard GT-R to achieve the supersonic time. Porsche even took a bone-stock GT-R to the 'Ring and its chief test track driver could only manage a 7:54. Nissan defended its time as legit and has provided solid evidence to support its case, but Porsche established enough doubt for Drivers Republic to bring a GT2 and GT-R to the famed Nrburgring to see which vehicle was faster.

Drivers Republic put both cars in the hands of an accomplished Nrburgring veteran, Chris Harris, who is also the author of this excellent article. Both vehicles were stock, except the Japanese-spec GT-R had its limiter removed. The Nissan also had Bridgetone rubber at the corners, which are actually different than the stickier Dunlops that Tochio Suzuki utilized during his 7:29 run. Nissan claims the soon-to-be-standard Dunlops are five seconds faster, but that's when in the hands of Mr. Suzuki who is one this planet's preeminent 'Ring racers. The track was wet during the run, which you would think favors the AWD GT-R, though Harris claims the GT2 felt faster in a straight line. You're probably dying to know which vehicle came out on top, and while we will tell you that one car was nine seconds faster than the other, you'll have to follow the read link below to find out for yourself.

we're only a minute behind a $70,000 car. not bad considering its over 20 miles long each lap

sorry, in the hands of someone that knows the GT-R like Suzuki-san. the GT-Rs. best time was 729. 738 was its mediocre time. and anything 7 under 750. the average joe should be able to get in the GT-R and achieve.

please dont make our MS3's look bad by putting them next to anytype of supercar or better yet, supercar killer

not sure if u went ahead and clicked that link, but there seems to be a lot of controversy about that time...

it isn't as tho i'm comparing our car to that - its more like i'm aspiring to be that one day =P

no controversy except by porsche owners eating soar grapes. their TT's and GT3's gets stomped on by the GT-R. and in the hands of Suzuki, the GT2 gets stomped on as well.

how many videos have you seen of porsches nurb runs? but you dont question their numers.

Nissan supplied a video of each run undoctored. i take nissan at their word and proof lik ei take porsche at their word

i'm fairly new to this whole argument, but it seems like there is a lot of passion from both sides of the camp =]

Porsche don't need to, unlike Nissan, they do have to prove something in a category not of theirs....

autoblog.com just posted an unofficial ring time for the new G8 GXP at 8:30 with a rollcage and a non pro driver, 2 seconds off of the BMW M5. Stickier tires and lighter wheels would put the ms3 around there I bet.

nissan isnt the one calling porsche a liar like alittle schooolgirl

its porsche thats crying foul. yet not proving the "slow" time they claim to have run in the gt-r. not showing how the gt-r was driven, whether the gt-r was driven properly or if it was even pushed to the limit.

please tell me. how does it benefit porsche to run a GT-R in the hopes of beating their own car?

porcshe's been bird feeding their customers minor upgrades and its bit them in the ass.

there are quite a bit of porsche owners who have sold their tt's and GT3's (which is the only porsche worth buying in my opinion) for GT-R's. hell there was even a 996 GT2 owner who got rid of his GT2 for a gt-r.

instead of whinning. porsche needs to answer back.

but the Vspec is coming which will demolish everything else the base GT-R hasnt beat

The guy driving the MS3 in the video slows down around every turn where there is sun glare. The car could have done a lot better.

that is true, has any pro attempted this? I know the MS3 is not 17 seconds behind the new cobalt ss. The new cobalt handles great in very tight road courses, but the Nurb. Isn't that tight, it's more about higher speeds.
