Cp-e Xcel Nano install and review w/ pics n vid

I got mine installed last night.

It was a extremely simple install. It only took a beer and a half (or about 30 min). I did have a slight issue when trying to install the mounting bracket. When trying to wedge it under that little black tab i sliced my finger open. The machined edge on that piece is damn sharp....be aware.

First impression when sitting in the driveway reving it up. It didnt seem to be all that loud. Then I hit the road. As soon as you hit 3 grand you can here her sucking massive amounts of air down her throat. I thought to myself, maybe you wont be able to hear it with the windows up, i was wrong.

I am truly impressed with this mod so far. It is a must have!!

Noob question. I heard all the SU filters are the wet type. Do I need to oil it before installation? Does any filter oil work for this?

You are correct! If you want the dry flow option you need to order it from CP-E. I think everyone else has answered your other questions.

Thanks

Yes you all did thanks. I installed last night. Only tricky part was installing the mounting bracket under that stupid plastic tab. Intake definitely comes alive at 3k. I see this intake being the total gateway drug as Im now browsing through new top mount intercoolers...blow off valves...etc(hand)

so it rained here today, the night after the install. I didnt realize how much quicker this made the car until i couldnt get traction in any gear up to fifth with minimal left foot pressure.

I love this thing

Will the K&N air filter oil and cleaner kit a pep boys be the thing to used on this filters for the future. It says in the NANO box on the little paper to only use green oil on the filter. Im sure that is the filter companys oil but is this just market bulls***???

I hope so because I used it on the filter and I did not see anyplace that said it was pre-oiled unless I missed it.

Definitely pre-oiled. If you put a whole lot on, you might want to clean it and start over. Man, they need a big red stop sign on top of the filter box that says "DO NOT OIL. WE ALREADY DID IT FOR YOU."

Well I just got back from de-virginizing the intake. The sound is intoxicatingly amazing, the mid range power gain more than caught me off guard. I installed it w/o a problem following CP-E's instructions. It is very quiet until about 2.75k rpm then it opens up and get's louder. No significant sound increase crusing on the highway. Well worth the money IMO.

I really can't blame anyone for making this mistake as this filter is oiled very lightly. I've had a few K&N filters so I recognize the sealed bag. However with the other filters there is much more residual oil coating the shipping bag, it gets on your hands when you touch it, (unlike this one). Also during my call to the vendor I was told the're first batch was dry only, so at first I was confused when my filter arrived in a bag.

Also for those about to install read these few tips http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123724946

Wait, it was a K&N? I thought they were sticking with the AFE.
