Project Pay2Play: My Eunos Cosmo has arrived!

Hi Antoine. I have been following this thread from the start and have just decided to join the forums.

With your suspension, also try and look at JIC's. I bought a set for the Cosmo for about $400 second hand. They still might make them new.

I am really keen to see this rear strut brace for the Cosmo. When you get it i would really appreciate some pics.

(sweet Cosmo btw!)

Welcome and thanks for checking out my thread! :D

Do you currently have a Cosmo? If so...Tell us about it and post (pics)

I think I've also seen the JIC setup on some Japanese sites...including yahoo auctions Japan but in used condition...I'll have to take another look!

As for the rear strut brace...Yeah, I'm looking forward to getting that part and I'll definitely post some pics along with my observations...:)

Hmmm....performance or ICE? Well, you plan to do both so do first whatever is more important to you.

Yes...INDEED...(laugh)...This is a tough call...but ultimately I might go for ICE because I can't stand having one missing speaker and the possibility that the others will kick the bucket soon as well...:(

Although...The longer I wait to find and locate a NEW coilover setup for the Cosmo...The harder it will be to find...(argh)

21,000!!

People in the US...just to give you some FYI...that's about $2,100.

Not cheap...but it is indeed quality.

Now that the Yen & Dollar are about the same...$2,100 would be 210,000.

Actually...thats more like $210 USD.

Yup...Which is a really good price for what seems to be a high quality piece that I'm assuming is made in Japan...(2thumbs)

The speakers in my Cosmo were one of the first things I replaced when I got the car.

All of them were torn/dead. Got the local car audio shop to install speakers, amp and CD player. Bypassing the stock systems (and keeping those in place). My stock CD stacker played a CD at random times if I was lucky, my touch screen does not work. Mazda Australia quoted me $8000 for a NEW touch screen from Japan.

Its nice that they CAN get them apparently and they did go to the effort of looking. Price was a little steep for me though.

Anyway, I bypassed all that stock stuff so I could play music. A year and a bit later and I still have that stuff on my list of things to fix.

As for which to do first, I work on the fix things that are broken first philosophy. hence getting music playing was cheap and easy. My suspension needs work, but it is not broken just yet.

Always nice to read about another Cosmo being looked after :)

Speaking of custom offerings...Any update on the EC 20B dump pipe?

They want a Cosmo to use as the test car. I only have mine & fear they may damage it in some way. I am working on a guy I know that has 2x 20B version Cosmo's to lend one to me.

If he wont then I'll be forced to take the plunge myself.

hey antoine.... something for you to think about later on when its time to rebuild the cosmo engine ;)

ohhhhhhh yeahhhh....
;)

They can be sourced direct from the manufacturer, aka Xtreme rotaries in Melbourne (land of Oz) if you ever wanted one.

Rohan started making them due to Mazda ceasing the OEM units (although they have since restarted)

Its a non-Mazda performance product.

The OEM centre-bearing plates crack around the stationary gear area due to a lack-of-meat in that critical area when the engines are stressed (read 800KW+)

Better water & oil flow

Lighter

Expensive...........(hump)

Was under the impression that these were completely developed, engineered, tested and revised by turbosmart from the ground up - at least, thats the line that they are running with in the sport compact scene, and the line that those who's 1600hp drag cars were used for testing this product for the last 12 months have been running with.

Its not a cure-all from what i've read either...biggest issue for the big power guys is a lack of low compression/custom/exotic material rotors, and aftermarket stationaries limits how much boost the engines can live with and thus limits outright horsepower....

And yes, they are expensive (like all billet components for any engine are) - and are only really there for ultra extreme applications (but i like egging Antoine on into unleashing the fury...) ... but its certainly a step in teh right direction... one less problem the rotaries have in their quest to chase down the almighty 2JZ....

Oooohhh....Me like hardcore billet parts! :D

Wow...That's a nice piece...Maybe someday...;)

I was hoping that my stockers would hold up longer as they sounded damn good for being 13 years old. As for keeping the stock setup and running a "stealth" audio system like the classic car guys...I think that's a good idea (thumb)...If you still have the stock setup.

In my case...The original owner of the Cosmo already replaced the stock tape/cd player etc with a couple aftermarket head units...Then I replaced that with a custom mounted navi/media unit. :)

Yeah...I agree but my problem is that I want to do a custom setup anyway...Unfortunately, it's going to take time and more money which means I'll have to wait a while before I have a full system again...but...I think it'll definitely be worth the wait!

For now...I'm still running the stock speakers with the sound directed to the front speakers.

Thanks for posting...It's nice to see fellow Eunos Cosmo owners share their experiences in my thread! :D

Thanks for the update...Keep 'em coming...I hope this works out so that one more quality part is available to us Cosmo owners!

Egg on, Egg on brother...:p

hey antoine, is there anything new?

Yes!..Well, sort of...Here are some new pics!

Project Pay2Play...Detailed and WAXED (11 pics)!

I've been really busy with personal stuff recently but I plan on posting a proper update soon...Stay Tuned and thanks for asking! :D

Ps...There is a Rotary Event this weekend in Kobe that I went to last year and to say it rocked is an understatement!

Direct from Japan! The top Mazda Tuners and their cars all in one place!!!

I'll be sure to take pics & video!

The wheels look great but I know 20s fit in there. They would more proportional to the size of the cosmo.

Hey I just agree with your home country movie favorite where I saw a cosmo on 20s "Serious Fours and Rotaries" in Australia. One of the best jdm car movies I remember from back in the days.
