Honda Releases Mugen Accessories for 2009 Fit

Fit640.jpg

After Honda's Mugen Civic Si took off last year, the automaker has officially announced that they will be offering Mugen parts for the 2009 Fit. All of these parts will be available on an a-la-carte basis and will be sold through authorized Honda dealers.

The list of Fit-ready Mugen parts is quite extensive, including sixteen-inch alloy wheels, an aluminum oil filler cap, front sport grille, front under spoiler, side spoiler, rear under spoiler, sports silencer, rear emblem, quick shift kit, special shift knob, sport pedals, sport floor mats, and a rear-view mirror cover.

No specific engine or suspension upgrades were mentioned, so Honda tuners will have to look elsewhere for Fit-ready performance modifications. Look for these Mugen accessories to go on sale in the Spring of 2009.

At the SEMA show Honda revealed the Civic HFP (Honda Factory Performance) Concept sedan that secures improved fuel economy without compromising the vehicle's performance or styling. Honda claims that this is done through aerodynamic improvements to the next generation HFP body kit, the addition of super-light alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers, a lighter HFP exhaust system and an upgraded HFP suspension kit, all of which offer the possibility of improving both fuel economy and performance. According to Honda, a similar package has been used on the Civic Type R race car, which campaigned in a Japanese series called the Super Taikyu.

All I can say is that there is some wild crazy cars at SEMA this year, and not for the better. Even the heavy hitters are bringing out some strange creative work.

It is SEMA afterall (lol2). That Mazda6 looks sick, except the braces' looking bumper and the black wheels (dunno)

your avatar keeps throwing me off... I keep thinking, "I don't remember posting in this thread..."

Toyota is bringing a pair of customized variants of its new Venza crossover to this year's SEMA show. First up is the Venza AS V (for Active-Sports Versatility) built by longtime partner Five Axis. The model is said to portray the car's overall versatility and will incorporate an innovative Integrated Cargo Carrier (ICC) by Magna Car Top Systems. Once pulled from the rear bumper of the car, the rack can easily store all types of winter sports equipment such as skis, snowboards and bikes. For added looks, the car will sport more aggressive bodywork with bulging over fenders capable of housing the wider 20 x 10.5-in. wheels and tires.

The second, more tuner aligned version called the SportLux Venza is aimed at incorporating the "the feel of a refined sports car while retaining Venza's utility and functionality." Undertaking the daunting task is notable show car builder Street Images, which will first install a bespoke body kit with reworked front, rear and side elements. Bigger and wider wheels (by the looks of them are 22-in.diameter) will fill the wheel wells, while larger brakes and a lowered suspension will also aid in revealing the Venza's deep seeded sports car traits. Inside the car will be a black and burgundy trimmed cabin filled with high quality leather. A complete infotainment system finds its way inside the SportLux Venza as well.

Looks really good.

... and really makes a point, if Toyo Proxes are used, your car really needs to be bulletproof (nailbyt)

Troy Lee and Mazda team up for custom 2009 Mazda6

The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show is in full swing, and one of Mazda's main contributions to the pandemonium is the Troy Lee Designs Mazda6. Featuring a custom iridescent paint job by PPG and a race-inspired design, the car shows the tuning potential in the Mazda6 as it hits U.S. streets.

Redesigned specifically for the North American market for the 2009 model year, the Mazda6 is larger, lighter and more efficient than the outgoing model. With the Troy Lee treatment, the SEMA car is also more aggressive and more eye-catching.

Funktion USA bodywork adds an aggressive front fascia with adjustable lip air splitter, while Eibach springs and blacked-out 18" Momo Strike wheels wrapped in Hoosier tires give the car
an imposing stance. Cross-drilled rotors and six-piston calipers are part of the Wilwood brake kit that handily hauls the car to a stop.

Also on display at the SEMA show is another Mazda6 by David Green, called the 'Green Energy'. Fitted with 19 Volk Rays wheels and Yokohama tires, the Green Energy show car also features a special black and green paint job by Kustom Shop and Dan Hatch/TMI Custom to bring it all together.

The engine choices in the 2009 Mazda6 include a 3.7L V6 engine rated at 272hp (203kW) or a 2.5L four-cylinder good for 170hp (126kW). These figures are as much as 28% greater than the previous offerings, but also manage to be more fuel efficient thanks to the use of lighter materials in the new car's construction.

That 6 is really just a bunch of rice. Nothing terribly functional there, other than the Hoosiers.

I like the more powerful V6 though. It's about time Mazda put some power in a car. Now if they would just bump it to 300 I'd buy one.
