hi everyone,
i, m here because i need to learn more before i buy a MS3 or a WRX? can you share your thoughts? my goal is to produce a fast car for daily driving
THANKS

A lot of people here will tell you to get the MS3, I myself was in the same dilema about 5 months ago when I was looking for a new car, I went with the MS3 because it was the best bang for the buck, and between the two of them I honesltly think the MS3 looks a lot better.

I personally don't think you can't lose with either ('08 MS3 or '09 WRX). You'll have to choose what matters to you the most. Performance wise, I think the '09 WRX will win in some areas (see C&D recent test results below). But we all know it's not all about numbers. Do you need AWD? Do you like a more refined interior (of course that's debatable). I came from an '02 WRX after having owned it for 6 years. It was modded heavily so I was dealing with a harsher ride and rattles and squeaks. I'm sure I'll start getting those with my MS3 eventually, but right now, I like the overall refinement of the MS3. I decided that I didn't need the AWD in FL and I had $21,500 to spend. Couldn't afford the new '09 WRX since we wanted to pay it outright and not have payments :) This will do for now...

this thread has the potentional to go on and on and on...and blah blah blah.

do the research for yourself, test drive both, figure out which one u can afford and take it from there.

/thread.

I enjoy the MS3, but I can't speak to the '09 WRX. It's faster from what we've been told. Not as big a fan of the exterior though. I suggest a test drive in both, back to back. Mark down what's most important to you and buy the car based on which one fulfills most of those requirements.

you wont lose either way, especially with the newer more power wrx, if you would have asked a year ago, I would have said MS3 hands down, but now, it's just whatever you feel better about. Nothing on here is going to sway you one way or another. Go test drive both.

another consideration is noise. from what i've read, the wrx should be quieter.
although i haven't driven a wrx, the ms3 has a fairly loud exhaust.

lol so true...definitely good advice...you'll never get a straight answer here, only way to truly know is to test them both yourself.

This is true, and also saddened me. I couldnt really hear the exhaust on the new WRX we test drove. Perhaps maybe if the window would have been down....but, that would change once we owned one...must have loud boxer grumble!

lol I dont even know if your comment was directed towards me or the guy talking about the MS3s "loudness" lol

i bought my ms3 before hearing about the '09 wrx with the added power and aero kit etc.

at the time, i didn't even consider the wrx because of 1) less power 2) ugly exterior and 3) boring interior

now that the wrx has more power, i might give it more consideration because it has a lot more power. but it's still ugly and has a boring interior.

and, from a roll, the wrx won't be faster. and, around corners, i'm guessing the ms3 still has a better suspension.

it's all a matter of personal preference. if i had extra money, i'd buy an older wrx and build it, keeping the ms3 as the pretty daily driver. a 3" exhaust on a subaru boxer engine sounds sick.

a guy i work with has a new STi, he parked next to me in the parking lot and said damn, my car looks terrible compared to yours...
