Question about switching out your HID Bulbs

if you want brightness go with the 4500 or 5000 at most. if you are just looking for color go with the 8000 or 10000

4500 actually produces the most usable light. also, over time your bulbs when slowly begin to burn hotter producing a bluer shade

agreed...mid 4000k range is going to give you the most lumens (actual light output), while higher numbers will eventually get more blue, then purple. do a google on mccullough HIDs and you'll get a good feel for output/color choices. they may not be cheap, but then again you kinda get what you pay for anyway

Like others have mentioned, if you want the most light output, you might as well just stay with the stock bulbs. 8K bulbs will only give you more blue/purplish colour and actually reduce the amount of usable light you'll be getting.

this is my hid of 8000K, its reflecting off my wifes rear bumper since its parked right in front of my car, so you can see the color from the reflection, its like a blueish color. Just in case you wanted to see what 8000K looks like on a speed3:

I have seen 10000K in person and its blue as ****! Doesnt light up anything really but looks pretty cool. Tho cops hate on the 10000K

i have 6000k and im pretty happy with it.. i thought the 5000k had a bit too much of yellow in it and i didn't like it, but that may be just cuz of my bulb. all u need is a bulb and it'll plug right in.. the problem is taking off ur old bulbs. its a PITA

do you have some pics of the 6k bulbs? did you notice any light output difference? i want to put 6k in my stock hids

It's 6000K...the K is for Kelvin, not for "kilo" or 1000. 6K bulbs would not even be visible.

I replaced my stock halogen units with 6000K HIDs

just replace bulps I installed hids in my sport and it took me 20 mins without taking bumper off because one of bulb clips was a pain in the ass....

would I have to take the bumper off and remove the headlight assembly even if I have factory HIDs? I also want to go from the stock HIDs to some 6000k bulbs

I believe so. There are certain bolts that I know I could not reach with the tools I had. I found it much easier to remove the bumper than to cut my hands or break something.
