Same price as you'll find here.

I'm sure...the market around here has nose dived just as it has everywhere else. His original selling price was $275,000 and that was after the market collapsed.

How are the property taxes there?

We are still renting while waiting for prices to drop a bit more. But I found this example of a house near Andrews:

IF it was my choice. I woud rather be in the Philly/Jerzy area. Better choices of neighborhoods/ school districts for rasing kids ( if you have/ thinking about.) I grew up in Bucks County. Which borders New Jersey along the Delaware river. You can find some very nice areas along the river (pricey), But if you go a little further into Pa. less expensive nice size homes and lots. Jersey will also be affordable for your housing depending on where you go. Taxes are much higher there then PA. But location I feel is great. What you shoud do if you can get some time is to do lots of research. Go out there or Check out City-data.org. Forum based website which you can get real life info about different places.

Some places to check out in Jersey would be the Sommerville/Manville.Fullerton/Route 202. Have family in that area. Small townish but overall not to bad,.

PA. Newtown/Yardley/Newhope/Sulbury areas. Little more pricey but very quick access to Jersy as they are on the river.

Also with Gov't Contracting. There is BAE Systems (great place with works with them here in DC), Northrup Crummon (spell?) and lots of other ones. Just cant think of the names

Hope this helps

www.city-data.com not org...yep..been checking around on that site.
Thanks for your opinion, I'll definitely keep it in mind. (sun)

mckraut - I'm biased and voted Andrews just so we have more local folks.
LOL...hey, that's a valid reason!!

CTt3P5 - If you did come to Jersey, the home prices here are falling as well. As a matter of fact you could be my next door neighbor if you don't mind a two hour commute. lol

If i come to Jerz...I don't plan on purchasing a home. We're going to rent. With the state of the economy...& Jerz!!? No way bro....I will buy a house where its warm.

CantCMe - You know you wanna move to D.C....
LOL....word....PM some details for realz.

This looks pretty nice, and only around 15-20 minutes from Andrews. Quiet neighborhood also :)

Taxes look comparable to me....hopefully you have a school board that makes better decisions than we do.

If i come to Jerz...I don't plan on purchasing a home. We're going to rent.

He may just rent it. I found out he is paying double his mortgage for stable fees for their five horses and he is looking to buy a farm.

With the state of the economy...& Jerz!!? No way bro....I will buy a house where its warm.

But you wouldn't be buying a house in Jerz...it's in PA. ;)

Cross-post this thread to MEC, VA, DC and MD. ;)

He actually did it...lol.
(friday)

Damn..i haven't heard a peep from the GACC peeps other than JA (racerxgirl)...lol..they don't love me anymore...I guess I'm their Benedict Arnold lol!

This is the most retarded idea I have ever thought of apart from the 'Swimming with Beer' idea...having you guys pick my next assignment...lol.

This is the s*** you can only expect from me.

Voted :)

I live and work in DC and really like it. I have an apartment in Dupont Circle and really like the urban (but not too intense) lifestyle.

Few random points:

- Crime isn't really an issue in NorthWest, and the MD/VA suburbs
- DC does require front plate (finally screwed mine on after $200 in tickets)
- You can get away with out-of-state plates for a little while, but if you're parking on the street eventually they'll force you to register in DC (may not apply to MD/VA suburbs)
- DC inspection is every 2 years and emissions is simple OBD plug in, not as in-depth as VA for example, passed every time, including lightly modded cars (de-precatted Protege w/CEL fix)
- You can't tint your windows more than 70% front (yes, that's right - invisible tint), 50% rear
- There is a ton to do in this area
- You should move here so we can check out your cars

What other questions do you have?

I almost forgot, while housing may be cheaper in some areas of VA, we do have an annual car inspection and car tax. :( MD only has an initial inspection when you move to the state, if that for military.

Wow, they are really restrictive about tint in DC. In MD, you can go 35% on the sides and rear (and that includes the driver and pass. windows, I know some states like FL don't allow the driver and pass. fronts to be tinted.)
