Ebay Shifter update

I put in this shifter about 2 months ago:

First off, they DO NOT fit. At least not without modification. I had to grind down some material for it drop in. If you don't have a Dremel or a grinder you will be stuck.

Now today, I was driving along, and the shifter dropped into the boot ! I was able to get home by lifting the shifter and moving through the gears. Turns out, the pivot ball, (which is a separate piece), popped a small retaining ring and let loose.

Needless to say, you get what you pay for. Therefore, I just ordered a new B&M shifter from Protege Garage.

Thanks for the heads up i was actually looking at that when i was making my shopping list for what i want to get done over the winter while the car is stored in the garage.

I had that same shifter before I got a empiregarage shifter (which is great)

You do not need to do anything to that shifter off of ebay (the one you posted) you just have to push down really hard till it pops in. I know, I never had any problems with it, thats why there is 2 o-rings on it and a lip, that holds it in place, if you grind it down then ofcourse it wont hold. So you caused the problem yourself

never looked into that shifter, i just went with TWM FTW, no probs at all.

Same as Dxa, went with TWM full setup from the start. No problems.

As with MOST everything, you do get what you pay for

HEY LOUIE. Work on your reading comprehension. I said the pivot ball let loose from the stick. I didn't say that the socket portion came loose. If it did, the stick could only come UP not DOWN. And I don't know what you bought ,but the lip on the shifter I got was LARGER than the hole it drops into. I don't give a s*** how hard you push, It won't fit. You got one that fits?? CONGRATULATIONS! Consider yourself lucky and don't come here to exercise your "keyboard macho". There is a wiseass like you on every forum it seems. (gtfo)

Sorry Louie... I didn't mean to get testy, but give me the benefit of the doubt about what fits in where, eh? If you tried to pass along some helpful info and I crapped all over it, you'd be a bit cheesed too. Feel free to share your experience , the more good intel.. the better.
