What have you done to your MSP today?

So I've noticed that after my extensive install that when I first enter boost and the AFC appears to take over the car will go real lean (~16+:1) for about a second before finally settling where they should. Would this be a fuel delivery problem (injectors not cutting it anymore) or a tune issue? I'm leaning towards fuel delivery because after about a second the AFRs return to normal. This doesn't happen if I stay out of boost.

im assuming you have the 255 lph fuel pump, if you do maybe make the AFC kick in at .5psi and see if that helps.

filled the tank up all the way :D

I love the fact that even after 5 years (almost to the day) this car still puts a smile on my face when I drive it...

Its not the fastest thing ever but its still fun :D

How do you get the shift boot out from the center console, just pull it straight out?

I got a new shift knob but there's about a 1/2inch of gap between the bottom of the knob and the top of the boot, figure I'll just throw some washers on the shifter on top of the boot stop to prop it up a bit.

have your tried adjusting your tune for it yet?
I still haven't found a decent place to do road tunes. Even so, with this lean spike I really don't want to take it to 10 psi. I'm going to play with the tune and see if I can't make it go away at the lower boost levels first

I "have" the Walboro; it just isn't installed, LOL. I am going to look at my AFC settings to see if it might be caused by anything in there. IIRC, I think I kicked the switching point to a lower pressure so that could be the cause I suppose. Hopefully it's just a blip due to bad tuning and not the car running out of fuel, or worse yet, fuel not being delivered in time. I'll see if I can't tune it out and if that doesn't work, fuel pump here I come...

try a couple tunes from the AFC library, and see if that lean spike goes away, just a quick way to see if the tune is the problem. but the fuel pump is pretty easy to install, just be carefull with the screws, they are really soft.

Yeah, I have my own custom modification of the supermap that I'm using. It was actually pretty good (11.5:1 throughout the RPM range) before I installed my new fuel rail and exhaust manifold. I know I made some un-tested changes after I installed both but I haven't had the time or place to open her up and record. I think it might have to do something with the AFC settings I changed. I'm going to try to see if this hesitation occurs when I acclerate while already in boost. Say from like 5 psi to 10 psi to see if it still occurs. If not, then I have an AFC issue to work out.

I thought there was a little esle involved in installing the fuel pump - I haven't read the how-to thread in a while though.

reason i know is because i have a entire spare fuel pump assembly with a walboro in it sitting in my room and the bottom cup is dremeled out to accept it

yea ill hook you up with some tonight just call me and remind me. Im reassembling my msp turbo tonight to install it on a friends car tommorow so i can get my "Bigger turbo" off his car =)
