talked to split second about their afc with NA Tuning!!!!

My mods are in my sig, and im doing just the SS AFC...

Im assuming i can use your map, and just tune it to my mods?

even tho im not touching timing, ill be making some better gains correct? When i got dynoed last weekend my AFR were all over the place at WOT
 
yea theres deff. gains if you do this mod. a great combo with the air fuel controller is a new intake manifold, a.k.a single runner intake manifold that ken sells.

the stock manifold is too restrictive and getting a new manifold will allow much more flow. espically if you get that extra air into the engine with the right air fuel ratios. you would be really pleased with a butt dyno.

i was very happy with the results. in your case, you should deff. buy it since you got the fidanza flywheel too. i have a thread somewhere about those 2 things combined. the car is really gonna pull with those 3 things.

lordworm recommend going with the microtech, but it just isnt in my budget, and my AFR truely were terrible.

How long did it take to do the install?
 
yes, you will have to retune due to atmospheric variances but since our mods are essentially the same it won't be much.

like i said my s*** is all over the place. and the AFR's even seem to change depending on what gear im in. it's crazy. i think it's just the primary O2 sensor is old, so when i get the new one installed i'll see how it runs.
 
the install didn't take very long, a few hours, i took my time, double checked everything before i cut. soldered all connections, rechecked and taped them. i screwed the FTC under the passenger seat (you will have to remove the seat) up against the front ridge the seat bolts to, outside of the rear air vent. the supplied screws were way to short, so you will need longer self tapping screws. they will go through underneath so i cut them so they were a little longer than flush with the underside of the body and put a good amount of silicone over the ends of the screws.

for the vacuum line i cut an x in the grommet that the main harness runs through. i teed off the cruise control vacuum nipple on the top of the manifold. i have the T so the straight ends goes from the manifold to the FTC and the cruise controll is off the 90 degree.

i ran the vacuum line and FTC harness under the carpet alone the ridge on the floor up front that the seat bolts to, under the center consol and it pops out the back right next to the plate the ECU mounts to. make sure you get everything stuffed under the plate to keep it protected.

i think this spot under the seat is perfect, it keeps it protected and somewhat hidden, but still allows very easy access to plug the serial cable into. also it allows u to use most of the full length of the FTC harness without having to bundle and tuck too much.

when you make the connections on the factory harness remove the tape and the protective cover on the plug so you can make the connections close as possible., you might have to do this anyway for the O2 wire since mine were wired pretty weird with a shick grey shielded wire the pink wire ran into. i lost it after that so i dunno what that is. maybe some sort of shielding and grounding for the sensor.

well, NA tuning, the objective is to gain as much timming as possible with some precise fuel trims to keep detonation down. but thats for maximum gains. an air fuel controller can not change timing, but since the air fuel ratios are so bad on your chart, you should see a decent gain with good air fuel ratios. the cars powerband will be more smooth and crisp and you should notice more power throughout the hole rpm range.

and cougar, ive have wrote many times that these o2 sensors are sensitive and i reconmend for you to buy a new one for atleast clean your sensor. also clean out your maf sensor as well, it helps alot. your tuning air fuel ratios to be precise in a certain area, and those 2 sensors can change that greatly. you cant tune a car with not up to par sensors, because the trim is going to keep changing and changing.
 
do you guys know of the How tos for the AFC install and the wideband gauge install?

I searched and searched but couldnt find them

james you wouldnt happen to have aim would you? id love to pick your brain about the world of NA tuning. I think your the only guy on here to have an actual NA tune

yeah, it's been a long time since i read this whole thread. i'm waitin on the new OEM sensor. so hopefully in a week i can start tuning.
 
so i fixed my WBO2 problem. somehow the multiplier to output AFR from lambda was set at some crazy custom 20-something. pulled some more fuel after 4500 rpms. in columns 0Hg and -1Hg, 4.5k is 8.9 and 5k, 5.5k, 6k, 6.5k are all 8.5. i left 7k at 10 to keep things "safe" which makes for some interesting events if you hit the rev limiter. AFRs dropped to 8-9, pretty sure i shot a flame, and my ECU went into a fit with a misfire and cat over threshold DTCs.

1st and 2nd gears wound out quick, screamin lol. looked like the AFRs were between 12-13.4, it was quick i didn't datalog the AFR cuz the laptop was hooked up to the FTC. i gotta get another serial usb adapter.

after i put a new o2 sensor in i should be able to get a decent tune. lookin to tune part throttle too.
 
question for your guys is the split second afc psc1-020 basicially what everyone calls version 2?
if so will version 1 do the same? and will it have the "b" output?
 
well aint that some s*** i'll find somewhere to throw it up.

edit: try it now, uploaded to webshots should work.

Ok, heres a full throttle map. I just got a new OEM O2 sensor and installed it. if i get some time during the week i'll work on part throttle. so if you guys wanna take a look at it and give it a shot.

Here's a vid of the current map. 30-90mph, i start in 2nd. also when it jumps up to 14-15afr when i punch it, thats not the map. it takes a little bit to settle down when you go full throttle no matter where you are in the rpms. i'm assuming from not tuning part throttle yet. also it will run slightly richer in the day when the temps are higher.

lol thanks. seems like i'm following in your foot steps. tune NA just to go turbo. i got all my turbo stuff just waiting and calling my name to be installed. and yet i haven't gotten around to it.
 
hehe... i'm right behind you... just waiting for my turbo setup to be removed from the previeous owners car and on to mine... though i be ditching the SSAFC for a microtech...
 
yeah, the Split Second is nice, although you can only do so much with 500rpm increments and the variation between .1 in the maps. but it keeps me inspection legal so i can't complain. wish i could go stand alone
 
nice gives me something to look forward too.

im still waiting on my wideband. I have to get new tires w/i the month, so the AFC is on hold.

you wouldnt happen to have any 1st-2nd gear vids would you?
