So Long dear P5

Well, I did it. I traded my P5 in on Monday. And of course I rained for the first four days that I have owed my new car. Even had tornadoes come close by. Almost as if the Mazda gods were punishing me.

Now I have to say that I did try to remain in the Mazda family, I went to the Mazda dealer with intentions of riding away in a Mazda3 hatch. Of course they did not have any with the 5spd. The sales manager came out and started talking about how I could write my own deal on a Grand touring autostick they had there. It was pretty nice, leather, roof, all the bells. But it was still an automatic. I sat down and they looked at my car. Came back and offered me $4000 for my car and 6.9% for 72 months @ 399-420 a month. He even added insult to injury on the trade when he showed me the KBB printout on the p5 which showed in GOOD condition it was valued at $4200.I told them no thanks and left.

Any way, my 02 P5 served me well, I bought her in Sept.06 with 36k...she looked like this

Then I got the bug. I got the Erebuni spoiler, Tein S-techs, Megan cat-back,B&M shifter, Tsudo header and VIS carbon Evo hood (Only mod that I don't have pics of...doh)

I also got the caps for the roof rack and took those off.

Anyway, I had no problems with her, took her all the way to 112K. Just those damned headlight bulbs that were constantly blowing.

I got $5000 trade in on...

2008 Jetta 2.5L (I'm not a turbo kind of guy) 5spd, leather, Optional wheels, Sirius installed, IPOD adapter, roof, 46 miles showing.

And Good lord there is a huge aftermarket segment for these things. I am not going to mod it though, I got tired of listening to the exhaust on the P5. My only plans are to put a K&N filter in it and maybe install my amp and subs...

well, maybe a set of springs wouldn't hurt...lol

So, I will have the spoiler and a few other parts for sale shortly, the CF hood went with the car, I didn't have time to come home and swap it and even then I did not want to try shipping it if I sold it.

How are you liking your Jetta? I made the same move Mazda to VW, I have a rabbit. If you think about doing anything shoot over to vwvortex. They have evrything in terms of learning your new car. Congrats on the new ride, enjoy. I love mine.

I love it! handles nice in stock trim and even though alot of the people at vwvortex seem to bash the 2.5 it is pretty peppy.

I noticed that and so did my buddy who was here over the weekend. I let him drive it and I noticed that he kept looking down at the shifter like he could not believe which gear he was in.

Also, the spoiler is in the FS section now!!! Along with some other stuff I had lying around.
