Subwoofer Mounting

I purchased a 10"inch Alpine Type X subwoofer.I am running this with a Rockford Bd1000 amp-nice!-, anyways, anyone have a suggestion on how to mount the sub. What I mean is, should the sub face the back of the hatch,straight up, or face to the side. What installs,if any, have been run or which way worked best for you?

Because it's an SUV it's not really going to matter which way you face it. I fired it down as seen in the pics. A single JL12w0 puts out pretty good bass. It's the wife's car or I would have gone 2 10's. But this saves space and is easily removable.
