What have you done to your MSP today?

I was feeling dejected today because I actually experienced something I didn't think was possible....my CustomMSP SMIC heatsoaked in stop 'n go traffic. :(

Once I got out of the heavier traffic and started moving at a steady pace it got better, but I'm still a bit sad about it.

looks like its time for an fmic

what makes you think it was heatsoaked, Matrix.. what symptons you had ?

Well, the car has been running fine otherwise. It was pretty hot today (mid 90's) and I had been in bumper to bumper, stop 'n go traffic for about 20 minutes.

After I got past the choke point (an accident all the morons were slowing down to gawk at), I kicked it and felt.....NA for a moment. Then, I could feel boost started to build and finally I was accellerating harder but nowhere near how it feels normally. After the car was moving for a while again, it started to get better and more responsive.

When I got to where I was going, I parked in the shade and left the car there for about an hour or so. When I got back in the car to leave, it felt fine again. With no vacuum/boost leaks and a 2-month old WGA and the car running fine otherwise, I have to assume it was heatsoak.

That's what I was thinking.

I already know I want to upgrade my radiator, so I'm pretty much limited to FMIC options that allow a full-size Corksport/AWR radiator upgrade. I'll have to do some research to determine what my choices are.

I Recomend you to buy a Water/Methanol Injection kit, and youll be fine, FMIC are not cheap, and the routing of the pipes are also not easy, now that you have a Custom SMIC you can help it by adding a fresh touch of Meth, and maintain the throttle response by short intercooler pipes. as well preventing detonation and lowering the combustion chamber temps, that way you can also raise the boost few psi more and make your car more fun than what already is.. meth kit is cheaper than a fmic now that you have a better smic...

I'm going to hold off on taking any action until my Steedspeed turbo manifold and Corksport S-pipe are installed. I'm hoping these items might help exhaust flow and reduce underhood temps a little bit, reducing or eliminating the heatsoak altogether.

But thanks for the idea! Sounds a lot cheaper and less hassle than a FMIC kit.

Bro it sure it is. cheaper, easier and very worth the money.. Chemical Intercooling is more efficient than just a Front Mount..

actually making your own fmic is cheaper then a meth kit....and with the price of the smic+hardpipes you could of bought a fmic

after 1 year of waiting I finally have my gauge pod (yes it actually took that long)....and after two days I diagnose that one of my gauges are dead...the cycle never ends...

I just want a single gauge pod for somewhere OTHER than the steering column or the a-pillar. I am looking for a single pod that can be integrated somewhere on the dash.

stop and go traffic is bad for any intercooler due to the lack of air flow. even with an fmic it can heatsoak without airflow (just not as easy as the smic cause fmic cores are typically larger than smic.)
