I don't know that they'll get RID of DS. If that were the case, they'd more than likely keep the class names what they are and shuffle everything down to appropriate classes to accommodate that Super Duper Stock class. And that looks oddly enough like what's going on right now...hmm

Not eliminate DS, just eliminate the class as it currently exists. SS->AS->BS->CS->DS.
ah, gotcha. So yeah, basically what it looks like they're doing.
Yup, that or the SAC is drive-ist, and they want to segregate otherwise competitive cars based on driven wheels.
Edit: Ok, looking back at the list, that's not anything resembling true. The list that's moving doesn't really contain anything that's been shown to be competitive in that class, and there are AWD cars on there as well: Volvo R's and DSMs.
It's much more likely that they've seen that there's not that much difference between GS and the vast majority of the cars in DS and decided that a rework was needed, either to make DS faster, or to make room for something else. I don't think the Spec Rally car class makes any sense at all. In other classes, where their MacStruts can be overcome and where their boost makes more of a difference with allowed mods, perhaps, but not in stock.

Yes, I obviously meant the GS list.
Ok, then they should create a new stock class on the back-end too, beyond HS. Bump all the cars suggested into GS, bump non-competitive GS cars into HS, then bump all non-competitive HS cars into a new class. Here are my suggestions:
IS -> Infinitesimally Slow
MS -> Mega Slow
RS -> Really Slow
IS -> Infinitesimally Slow
MS -> Mega Slow
RS -> Really Slow
I know you're joking, but now that you mention it, I wouldn't be surprised to see a mass exodus from GS now that they've moved some faster cars there. "Non-competitive GS cars" is a very long list, which will likely only get longer with this move.
as is the list of Non-competitive HS cars. Every car's not going to have a class it's competitive in... let's face it, some cars are just turds. No need to make a class per car now....
Actually, I'm only partially joking. If they are going to overhaul the entire class system they should consider making a new class for all the non-competitive cars in HS. If they don't they'll lose a lot of interest from people who can't compete with the faster cars moving into HS. If you can't compete, you won't be interested in doing it. As much fun as it is, if you're always losing you'll lose interest. If there's an exodus from GS like you predict, HS will be flooded with faster cars and the people who were doing well in HS will now be getting stomped.
Yes, you're right, but let's put all the turds into a class by themselves. Like my old '93 Honda Civic EX. Total turd car that couldn't even compete in HS. Not sure it could compete even if a new turd class was opened up. At least if they bump cars down from GS to HS, they could make a decent class out of HS and put the turds into a class their own.
HS is and has been the catchall class. I see no reason to change that.
Yes, but in HS, there are a number of cars that are in the trophies, and a number that could be but aren't run. '99 Si anyone?
In GS, there's one car that wins, and a whole laundry list of cars that don't. Looking at last year's results, unless they were running in very different conditions, the Minis are still going to win. Granted, some of those DS cars might not have been fully developed, and might not have been driven by the fastest guys around, and still would have landed in the trophies, so...
Which is another reason I don't think that HS needs any fixing.
I agree, and I've been saying for a while now that there's no reason for the GS Mini (the turbo moreso than the supercharged ones, but really both of them) should have been in DS from day one. They're a total overdog in that class.

Maybe the move into GS isn't all that bad, even though the Mini-S still stomps everyone. It's too bad the MSP was such a limited production car, because there aren't many people running them. Whereas a lot of people who one ITRs run them in auto-x. I should be able to beat the local Mini-S, but just because I think I'm a better driver than he is. His son, if he was still allowed to co-drive, would be tough to beat.

Odd that the '05 Mini beat the '07 in GS, but I'm going to guess the '05 was just a better driver.
It is kind of a shame. I was just thinking that DS was about to get interesting, with the TTs and Crossfires starting to challenge. Oh well, GS should be the same story, different favorite.
Second event this season he put a stomping on his dad's time by more than two seconds. Got 5th best PAX time of the day. So his dad kicked him out back to his POS Neon that he's running in DSP and it's really slow.
