I am planning on putting ROYAL PURPLE Syn oil in my 07 SPD6 and REDLINE Tranny fluid. Anyone have a good comparison in oils and weights for Southern California weather or recomendations?

You may want to search this and the other M6 forums on this topic. I've read some negative reports on the RP oil with HP loss and early breakdown. The prevalent syn motor oils are Mobil1 and Penzoil in 5w30 or 10w30. I run the 10w30 M1 in the motor and 75w90 in the trans, PTO and diff. YMMV

Royal Purple 5w30 here for 9k miles an no problems. Redline MT-90 in the transmission and shifts much smoother :)

Where did you read this at? What tests showed that RP oil created a loss in HP? You are the second person that I have seen post this information, but I can't seem to locate the tests or original post.

I just started using RP my last oil change and have a case here ready for my next change soon. I do have to say it is a night and day difference for me in feel between RP and M1. The engine seems to rev more freely and I notice less engine breaking with the RP than with M1 or Mazda semi oil. Maybe this leads to increased shearing because it is thinner?? I just ordered a Blackstone kit as I am curious to see what the results are for me. I think they are different for each person, engine, and location.

Sorry I don't have the details for you here. It originally posted on another mazda forum "***************". I'm pretty sure if you search there you will find it. If I had it saved I would provide it, sorry...

Any1 using amsoil? Ive seen where you can go 15,000 before an oil change. That doesnt seem safe?

I have heard and read studies of synth oil longevity such as 15k but the issue is that you will have to replace your filter before that or it clogs up and becomes less effective.

I use M 1 5W30. I actually used the RP and didnt like it. Felt like it was holding my car back.. Maybe just in my head. I also had a mechanic tell me it was bad for the car.. It was some lady when i bought the oil so who knows.... Mobile one is good stuff though!

im using amsoil. im waiting for my order to come in to change it. it hasnt been 15k yet but probably....8-9K maybe 10K so far and no problems at all. car feels a lot better too.

not a speed 6 just a normal 6.

Amsoil 5w-20 right here. We are a dealer, so I get it at cost. We run it in all the LS race engines, my rotaries, and personal cars. I bought my speed 6 with 30xxx miles on it from a dealer that had taken car of it from day one. They used the motorcraft 5w20 syn, day I took it home I flushed it with ams flush and filled it with the new syn 5w20. I will prob go 10xxx on changes, but you should change the filter at 5xxx is using a factory filter. Other wise amsoil sells a highlife filter for the 10xxx and 15xxx changes.

speed6 takes 5w-30 buddy.

it can run on more then just 5w-30..u dont have to stick to factory specs.. depends on ur preference and location... i used to use royal purple and im not liking it anymore im gonna go with M1 5w-30 and see how it does on a road trip then i might change to 10w-30.

I was using Mobil 1 in my 2001 Ford Focus since day one. Finally at 180.000 miles I did some maintenance work in the engine. I was changing the oil every 10K-12K miles. When we open the engine in the mechanics garage the engine was spotless. No sludge or any sign of wear. Everything clean. I drove the car always to the red line before shifting. Some autocross races and also highway miles. The car its still running strong with 190K now. My godson has it. He continues to use Mobil 1. I do use Mobil 1 5W-30 extreme performance for my MS6. I am sure that is the only true fully synthetic with realistic price and easy enough to find in any autoparts store, walmart, Sam's club, Costco, etc. I am changing oil every 7,5K miles. Very happy. Also use Mobil 1 oil filter. Part #:M1C153 I notice also that my car runs smoother and cooler. Revs faster and gives me better fuel mileage.
