The Map sensor which is a little square sensor on top of the passenger side wheel will say N370 if it is an S4 Tii. The Turbo will also have an extra solenoid on it to control the flow of air through the twin scroll manifold. Don't know for sure though since both of those parts could be used with an S5 block.

info on S4 and S5 ... turbo and Non turbo

ahem ... ok since i HAVE an S5 aka Series 5 Rx7 engine in my 1988 S4 aka Series 4 Gxl Rx7 .. lol.. i believe i can answer this for you the RIGHT way lol

IF he DOES have the S5 turbo engine in the car ... just look at the FRONT rotor housing ... IF You see a big KNOCK Sensor sticking out the side of it right above the Trailing spark plug aka TOP plug... then its an S5 engine .. that and if the Air flow meter is ROUND and has N370 on it and the Boost pressure sensor (mounted on right front strut tower, above airbox area) says N370 then he has the S5 engine in the car ... N370 is S5 ... N318 OR N332 is S4 tii N326 or N327 is Non Turbo stuff ... here is a pic of the Knock Sensor and Air flow meter and Boost Pressor sensors ....

here is the S5 Turbo II air flow meter and Boost Pressure Sensor...
