Starting My First Mazda Build

I'm glad you had fun, Jonathan. Will you be attending next weekend's night event?

Run novice next time. You'll get an experienced instructor in the car with you. Let them show you what the car can do, and I guarantee you'll drop more time than you thought possible. Glad to see you out there, and that you had fun :)

Kevin road with me on my first two runs and gave me much needed instruction. I think I need to get a feel for my car and work from there and I think I might just stay in csp for a while It's a fun class that gives me a goal to accomplish. My day will come to have a time under 60.00 sec. but until then it's just more practice.

You can't really set goals that way in autocross. Next time will be a shorter or longer course, and people may be putting down average times of 75 seconds or 45 seconds. It'd be easier to judge by how close you are to the fastest car in class (Kevin, for now...), but that's still not an exact science.

You have a point so let me rephrase my quote my day will come when I get to come close or beat Kevin's time. since he is the fastest time in csp. But the main thing is that I had loads of fun and will be back in July.

But anyway back to my build. My brother helped me with my exhaust today. We got it all welded up and hung in place and all that is left is to weld a turn down pipe and It all needs to be painted so it doesn't rust. so Ill get pictures of it when we take it off to finish up on Saturday. It is very loud (I think it is louder than Kevin's) and it has a very deep tone. It almost sounds like a V-8 going down the road and I love that sound. so keep checking back and I'll have pic's up soon.

here are some pic's of my exhaust. tell me what you think.

Reading that, we need to organize another dyno day and get some Miatas on the rollers. I am curious what mine is putting down ATM.

could be fun. Let me get my power steering off the car and i'll be wanting to get a new baseline before the build on the old / new motor begins ;)

What kind of condition is your leather wheel in? If it's decent, I'll take it off your hands. Mine is pretty rough.

No idea. It's always had this 'wrap' thing around it. I don't mind it, but it's in better condition that most leather wheels I've driven.

It doesn't look like your paint job worked out too well. You may want to hit it with some high temp grill paint or something to keep the rust down.
