Turbo Timer.....

I am in desperate need of a turbo timer. I volunteer @ my local fire department and when there is a call I need to drive there pretty quickly...needless to say, I cant drive there quickly and wait around my car for 5 min for it to idle....

Anyway I was wondering which turbo timer you'd recommend? I'd prefer one that has some type of automatic setting because most of the time I drive pretty lightly, but there are definitely the occasional spirited runs, especially when going to the fire department -- so I'd like the TT to be able to decide how long to run the car for w/o me having to manually set it.

Also, I do not intend to do this installation myself. Any idea how much this should run me to install? Could an car audio/alarm place to do this (I'm assuming its mostly electrical stuff).

Thanks in advance for every1s help,
Josh

Apex'i has a full automatic TT you could find at protege garage or s t r e e t u n i t (remove the spaces) in both silver and black for pretty cheap. it is small and narrow and can be mounted almost anywhere and the hook-up is pretty easy you could most likely do it yourself with basic hand tools and a few minutes.

Turbo Timers on these cars are more of a looks thing. Maybe my experience is different because of the way my timer was installed, or the because my car is an 08.5 .... I was thinking the same thing when I bought mine, "I can just set it and forget it." Wrong : When you get out of your vehicle you cannot lock your doors via remote untill the timer has run out and your engine is shut off. And once the turbo timer shuts off your engine, for some reason it automatically unlocks all of your doors. So you could set your timer and leave, but all your doors will be unlocked. You have to stay in range of your remote so you can lock your car once the timer has shut off.

Like I said it may be just mine, my gf's brother installed it, he works at a land rover dealership and has experience with srt4's/sti's.. And your instructions come in asianese (not sure which it is)- This is why I only have mine set for 10 seconds.

WTF?!?!?! Is this only with the greddy TT or does every1 have this experience?!?!?!

I believe there was a thread on the other forum a while back about the doors locking while running. It was determined that it works if you wire it differently. I have the Omega one from Protege Garage and I can lock my doors with the remote while the car is running but I wouldn't recommend the Omega TT it's a cheap POS.

do you have the Apexi?

I need to know that I will be able to lock my car while its still running

still wondering if the apexi or even the blitz (really any of the skinner TTs) will allow me to keep the car running with the car locked? <--- kinda important

buy any tt if you cant close dorrs via remote just lock car using the lock in the doors and close doors ....so ******* simple....

you dont understand lol. When the turbo timer shuts the car off, ALL doors are automatically unlocked. So you can manually lock it from the inside and get out, but once the engine stops it unlocks all the doors. The car thinks youre still inside when the engine is shut off so it unlocks all the doors for you and your passengers..

I dont think thats true, but I havent driven my car for a while so I cant really check.

I remember that locking the doors on the inside keeps them locked till you say so.

I dont how the installer installed it, but i have Blitz IV tt and i cant lock my doors with my remote, but once the car turned off the doors remain lock. I have to manually lock it though when gettin out which is not really a hassle.

this gives me hope.....:D

it got automatic settings too based on time u drove or how much time u were on boost.. cause it got a boost guage!, but then it's in hkpa, that's mad jdm yo! and you can set it to manual too. it got a stop watch and a warn light, set it to what pressure you want it to warn you, when it reach that pressure it'll beep and turn red at the same time. pretty cool

the asian comment was because I dont speak it. I dont know what "ese" it was.. but I just thought that it was pretty gnarly I ordered this stuff totally thinking my instructions would be in english

from people who've done this -- aprox how long is the install?

I'm gonna get quotes from different car electronics places in the area, and i just want 2 make sure they're reasonable...

Well that sucks if this is true. I just got my Greddy TT and that will be a waste of money if I can't leave the car when i walk away because it unlocks the doors. Anyone have a TT and know this for a fact
