Audi A3 and Mazdaspeed 3 dilemma

I had every intention to go get my Metro Grey speed3 in 2 weeks...then my buddy calls up saying "hey my bro in law is selling his 06 A3 fully loaded for 17.5 30Kmiles"

went for a test drive and wooohooo that is one smooth car...fit n finish excellent, enough power that you feel good...

BUT MAN love that speed3...

so here is the dilemma...

get the A3 then trade in my slow3 for the mazdaspeed3 and be (mj)

or be smart and scrap the speed3 and sell the slow3 for the A3 and be $$





damn...

The speed3 is nice, but you cant beat AWD and DSG.

He never said it was AWD or DSG. What are the specs on the A3? Think about this. The Audi is out of warranty in 20k miles and they're known for always being in the shop. They're also not cheap to fix. For about $6k more, you can get yourself into a brand new car.

They both nice cars but I agree with frequent flyer on this one, and the after market warranty is not cheap for this car.

+1 for Audis being unreliable. For that price, I bet it's a 2.0t with front track. I test drove one before I got my MS3. I liked the MS3 better.

You also have to consider the A3 is used....the Mazdaspeed is new.(thumb)

just to say something about A3....I rather get the golf GTI, same power, same engine, same tranny....and cheaper too (if new)~! me...myself is having a hard time to pick between the speed 3 and the Golf GTI~!

Its the 2.0T (same engine as the GTI) and i know the owner personally, he is a car nut so he has taken very good care of it. Its loaded with all the nice nice and wifey likes it...

but thinking im gunna get both!

The DSG is a cool tranny, but only time will tell if these things will stand the test of time. Will they go 100,000 miles without having to be overhauled? I'm having a hard time believing they will. As quick as they shift, I'd rather stick with a good old manual tranny. More fun and less headache.

ya ive had 2 german cars (audi and VW) before and all i have to say is that it kept my broke ass even broker... everyday it felt like something else would go wrong... and truthfully i didnt like the audi as much as i liked the vw... i drove the ms3 and well... ms3 ftw

From what I've gathered, yes unfornately. Same thing goes for VW's

Audi AWD is a waste of time unless it's in an RS variant. You'll understeer like a pig no matter what just like FWD. The only time it would be fun is doing donuts in the snow.

My wife has a turbo VW jetta, s***'s expensive when she breaks, audi has to be just as bad if not worse on repair costs. But the A3 is somewhat of a played out car. I think the MS3 is much more unique!
