Today Mazda announced in a short press release that their new Mazda Biante, a eight-seat minivan, will go on sale in Japan during this summer. The name Biante is inspired by the English word 'ambient' and the car aims to create a unified interior space that makes the in-car experience enjoyable and comfortable for all its occupants.
The Mazda Biante has been developed exclusively for the Japanese market and will therefor most likely never leave the island. Further info can be found on the new Biante website (Japanese only).

i never said or did think this Biante is good lookin' van.
there are way more better looking vans in Japan.
i would get these before this Biante.
Honda; ELYSION, ODYSSEY(J-spec one, not NA-spec),
Toyota: ALPHARD, VELLFIRE
and if you guys think these are ugly too... i guess i am just another weird japanese....

No disrespect was meant towards you... you posted pics and asked what we thought
All of those vans have either a squished, stubby flat front or back end if not both, and sorry, but I think most of those are pretty ugly too. BUT this is coming from an American who has embraced typical North American styling. You have to agree that the styling of these vans is quite different than anything you'd find on the roads in North America, or Europe for that matter. I'm sure Japanese think some of our cars are 'typical American' oversized cars are disgusting and ridiculous in their bulk (ie, Chrysler 300c, any Cadillac, any Buick, etc).
It'll never come to the US. Japan gets crazy designs like that all the time, Americans aren't crazy enough to put their money into something that wierd and ugly looking.
With gas prices on the rise, you never know. People are willing to buy anything these days just to say they're the first to have it.

Build of a new, additional model for Mazda's domestic market Autozam and Anfini sales channels has commenced at the OEM's Ujina No.1 (U1) plant. Sales of the Biante minivan, a rival for the segment leading Nissan Serena, are due to commence on 8 July, the company states.
"The launch of the all-new Biante marks Mazda's entry into Japan's mid-size 'tall' minivan segment. In terms of sales volume, it is second only to the compact car segment, where we introduced the all-new Mazda Demio last year," company chairman, president and chief executive Hisakazu Imaki told workers as he watched the first vehicle come off the line.
The front- or all-wheel drive Biante, which can seat up to eight occupants, is 4,715mm long, 1,770mm wide and 1,835mm high (1,855mm for AWD versions). Mazda is yet to announce the wheelbase dimension.
As for powertrains, both 2.0-litre direct injection and 2.3-litre four-cylinder engines are to be offered. All-wheel drive variants (2.0 engine only) will have a four-speed automatic transmission, while all other model versions are to have a five-speed auto as standard.
The Biante will sit in Mazda's model range between the Premacy (Mazda5 in export markets) and MPV (Mazda8). No sales target has been announced as yet and there are no export plans at this stage.
