I thought white and true red were MS3 only...

If the CPW is available on the RX8 and CX7 then Cosmic Blue is still the only unique color to ths Speed 3

People end up with CB because it was the only MS3 left on the lot. Let's not be too hard on these folks, they didn't have much of a choice.

crystal white pearl is available on the 2.3 and the speed3.
true red was available starting in 2007 on i, s and speed3 models. for 2008.5 it is only on the speed3.
cosmic blue has been the only unique color to the speed3, but their was a very very similar color available on the 6 wagon. i think it was called squall blue.

Alright so... not sure this is the appropriate place but fcuk it. Since everyone's saying "my color's the best" and not really giving any valid reasons... I figured I'd throw out my take on all the colors. Just to preface... though some might be construed as negative... realize that, even in pea soup vomit green with bright ass orange pokadots... this car is still better than anything else in its pricerange. so... yeah, I'm nitpicking.

Red: Definitely the fastest "looking" of the colors... A bit too bright for my taste. No offense but the candy red thing's a bit girly for me... Would love to see it in a more subdued shade.

Black: Has perhaps more potential than any other color but, in stock form, fails to impress. The bright silver wheels clash with the dark appearance in an awkward manner. The black plastic inserts on the front and back blend in with the rest of the car... lessening the somewhat cool look and making it harder to distinguish if it's an MS3. Though, as I said, with the right wheels and proper tints.. this color looks badass.

Silver: My personal favorite. While silver might be a popular choice for cars overall... very few can top what mazda's pulled off here. The way the aforementioned black plastic trim (as well as the tail lights) contrast with the paint... the way the wheels match the paint... this color definitely seems to fit the character of this car the best.

Cosmic Blue: My least favorite. Not necessarily due to how it looks (in some lighting situations it can look pretty sweet) but it's schizophrenic nature would drive me (ironically) insane. I've seen them range from purple (in bright sunlight) to dark grey... and everything in between. Also... sort of a strange choice for Mazda considering the performance nature of the car. Previous gens had colors that stood out from the crowd... matched the inner spirit of the (wannabe) beast inside. No offense but... this color matches the spirt of a toyota sienna better than an MS3.

White: I was expecting this color to blow me away. To me, the best looking sport compact on the road today is a (white) GTI with the 18" chinese star wheels. Make it any other color and keep the wheels... garbage. Keep it white and give it those bad 17" wheels... not quite as bad but still garbage. I was hoping to be almost as impressed with the MS3 (since it's clearly a superior car where it matters) but sadly... was not. I feel the wheels are the culprit. They just dont' seem to match up too well with the color. Like black, get some wheels that fit the look a bit better... take the trim off the side and... I think the GTI might have some competition in the hotness dept.

Lastly... MG: This was my biggest dissapointment. Even more so than white since, deep down, I didn't really think the MS3 would look as good as the GTI. I mean... how could it? But seriously... I was hoping/expecting this color to be the s***. To me, it just seemed boring... and again, the wheels didn't help.

In looking back... seems the wheels either make or break this car. Bright wheels like the one's on the MS3 seem to work on bright (red) or matching (silver) cars the best. Providing differnent wheels on a limited production car probably wouldn't have been feasible. But Mazda could have done the next best thing... gunmetal finished wheels... sort of like what they did to the racing harts on the 03.5 msps. Still wouldn't have been perfect but it definitely would have helped.

So there's my .17

Why relate the MS3 to a GTI? I happen to think the GTI is much uglier in any other color, then the MS3. Last they make different colors because people like different colors. Not everyone has to like everyone else colors but all of these threads that go on and on about colors are a tad bit ridicules.

CHICO2003 is right about the stock wheels only looking decent on the silver and red MS3. The stockers look like straight up ass on the Black Mica that's for sure. I'm going to have mine powder coated black or gun metal.

Yea i agree with that and I am going to also get aftermarket black rims for the white MS3 and powder coat the stockers black and run snow's on them.

Cosmic Blue is indeed a strange color, a chameleon color, reflecting and blending with the background.

While this may be a danger on rural 2-lanes on gray days, it does help to blend into traffic when the eyes of the law swivel your way.

It is also Really Cool to look at on a sunny day when a cloud passes overhead. It changes color, then changes back. Far Out.

This is the appropriate color if you plan to put a Grateful Dead sticker in your back window, or tailgate at a Jimmy Buffet Concert, etc. etc.
