2008.5
Are the 2008.5s subject to the ECU reflash and fuel pump pressure TSBs? I've searched and can't find this info.

Since the recall notes a build date prior to 11/22/07, I would highly doubt any '08.5 would be included.

I would have to agree. I think they put the 11/22/07 in there because of course the last 6 are going to roll fairly soon after that date with less then 150000 left.

im very interested at a 2008.5, and when i was last at the dealership, i wrote down the vin on a peice of paper to get an insurance quote. the vin falls in this range. if i do end up buying it, im going to make them reflash it whether or not it has the symptoms, to cure my paranoia.

CWP that link won't work. I tried correcting the spaces. Anyone else have it? I'm sure yours is the same as mine since they were both from the same dealer.

Build date probably applies to the pumps. Since the ECU adjustment is new, any car within the vin range can get the reflash.

They have a second build date related to the pump (prior to April 07, 2007) so I am pretty sure the November date relates to the flash. I am guessing there are probably 08 Speed 3s that came out after the November date that have vins outside that range, then the final 6 rolled and we are back in the range. They probably should have just given dates and left the vins out of it.

If the vin falls within the period but the build date doesnt would that mean it has a newer ECU adjustment and therefore not need the reflash? I'm trying to decide if I want to get mine reflashed as a preventative measure so it wont become a problem.

Anyone know if there is any harm in reflashing an ECU that doesnt necessarly need it?

they might not do that, and for good reason-

called mazdausa and the closest dealership since my '08 falls in the vin range, but i have no known issues to complain about.

mazdausa didn't have much info because this is a tech bulletin, which i figured, but the local dealer contact was very cool. he said the reflash typically needs to be done as protocol for the problem detailed in the TSB. He said reflashing with that update, for s**** and giggles, especially based on such a TSB, can actually cause more issues if the car is not seeing the issues based in the TSB. he said there is a seperate list of applicable ECU updates that would show up for my car when he ran the VIN and queried and he said currently there is nothing that is available that is a general program update for my car.

i can tell already this thing is going to turn into an internet legend....claims of incredible gains through a reflash on a car that was just fine to begin with....

the bottom line surely seems to be this - if you car is acting fine and/or you don't have any codes, then IGNORE this TSB

Man I am really antsy for the new Cobb AccessPort to come out. I'm sure it will address any of these faulty tuning issues for sure.

Theres the link to the TSB, its any MS3 with VINs lower than JM1BK**** ** 859606 produced before November 22, 2007

Mine was produced in 02/08 but falls within the VIN range and the dealer said it did effect mine but dont worry about it unless it shows the symptoms

Seems odd that your vin is lower than 859606. My build date is 12/8/07 and the vin is way out of the tsb range.
