ms3 bang for your buck over a s2k??

well im asking this questions because the other day ... me and a s2k where at a stop light and we had a short 0-60 sprint (traffic) after second gear i was pulling away about half a car to a car length(no wheel hop, thank you MM). The guy let off after. Then the guy pulled a sorta cheap shot lol ... pulled next to me and down shifted ... my natural reaction was to step on the gas and i forgot i was in 4th but i was still able to pull on him about quarter of a car(that guy said he was in 3rd).

well after that day ... even tho i wanted to get a s2k .. i'm glad a spent grands less for a car that is just a fast or faster

just wanted to share my passion for this car lol ... GODDAMM i love this car

The two cars are pretty evenly matched. By the numbers, the s2k is faster, but in case like this, it really is a driver's match.
 
I've driven in a stock s2k and there's NO torque down low...and by none i mean none..... It feels quick becuse it's such a small car but you really need to push the rpms to the limit to get the lifters going and the power. The MS3 has much much more low down...in higher rpms not much since our cars start choking after 5700 rpm...but man we lay the torque smackdown against those things.
 
But the best part is that the MS3 isn't a dedicated sports car like the S2k and can still hang. Awesome.
 
I agree... the MS3 and the S2K are matched in terms of acceleration, but after that they become two different cars. If you want to run around a track or through the twisties, the S2K would be better. If you want a car that is almost as good through the turns, and one you can use on a daily basis for just about anything... the MS3 is the way to go. (And you get to save yourself 10K!)
 
Stock for stock the MS3 & S2000 have nearly identical power to weight ratios.

It’s a driver’s race as someone already mentioned. I’ve driven both and can contest to that.
 
They're close in numbers, but for the price you can't go wrong with the Ms3...I think with a couple suspension mods the MS3 would have no problem taking an sk2 around the track...in a straight line forgetabout it. Just get some MM's for the FWD to hook a little better and you'll blow the doors off it in the straights...

This seems to occur a lot on this site. People start off making a comparison of two cars and then someone chimes in with a...

This is a game that can be played both ways. If I mod the S2K then where would we be?

Let's stick with a stock to stock comparison, otherwise, you aren't going to get anywhere. MS3 / S2K matched evenly in acceleration... Practicality and price = MS3, Track times and turns = S2K.

There is a lot more to the experience of driving a car than 0-60 times. There are a lot of boring cars that could give a MS3 a run for the money in straight line acceleration.

A new V-6 Camry could hang with a S2000 from 0 to 60 but I would imagine that the S2000 would be far more enjoyable to drive.
 
The only way to really find out would be to run the two on the same track...I wouldn't be surprised if the MS3 came out on top though...here's a vid with a few mods...S2K has cat delete, CAI, and upgraded exhaust. Ms3 has CAI, CBE, and a BOV. Looks like there's three runs here with the MS3 building more speed than the s2k through the higher gears.

Those are some of the lowest #'s I've seen posted on a MS3.

In Car and Driver magazine's May 2007 issue, the Mazdaspeed3 recorded its quickest acceleration times, completing the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.4 seconds, with a quarter mile time of 14 second flat at 101 mph

With a good drivers the MS3 is much faster than a V6 camry. Doubt the Camrys #'s vary much seeing as it's a automatic.

I have owned all three (RX8, S2000, MS3) and the MS3 stock and S2000 Stock is a good race and a Drivers Race. Stock S2000's put down anywhere from 192-211WHP. Shy of serious mods, the S2K will not get much faster at all. Serious mods I mean Gears, Turbo, SC, Stroker type mods. Standard bolt-ons get hardly any HP at all unless you have a tune and then it's minor.

The S2000 is a blast to drive and the gear box is just amazing. The RX8 is almost as fun just not as quick.

The MS3 is just fun to mod. The S2000 is very expensive to Mod the RX8....why bother.

$500 and it's see yah S2000 :)
