GI : Big Brake Upgrade

what about FD's 93-95 calipers, would they work perfectly for a front BBK + their rotors or any other suggestion.

I liked the BIffy Mitsubishi VR4's but I just read a full page of complains about them ceasing and not working properly where ppl got in accident because of the "calipers".

On PT it was mentioned mazda millenenia S , calipers twin piston + vr4's rotors is a good match but only three ppl have it on and using it.

So whats next on deciding for caliper & rotor combo BBK ??

How about the MS3 Brakes ? Same bolt pattern ?

Front brakes, ventilated 12.6 inches
Rear brakes, solid 11.0 inches

No ?

The rotors seems promising but what's the deal w/ MS3's caliper are they single piston or ....... ?

plus they seem to be expensive as you can't get em elsewhere besides the dealer .

So, once again, what's the deal on the hats? Are they even going to be made? I can get the rotors, calipers, etc all myself. Or at least share the specs of the hats please?

FYI- to all that hope to use the RX-7 calipers the pads they work w/ are about 20-30% smaller surface area so think before you jump to it.

Better choice would be WilWood Calipers + rotors, they deff. have bigger pads +rotors friction surface area.

Once again, can we just get the specs of the hats please? I can have them made, and I'll order a bunch up so everyone can run this kit!

I gave up. It's cheaper to get a used BBK or something by the time you get the hats made. No one knows the specs, and htat's the problem. If Twilight would share them, we could all have them made by Brach or something, but without the specs it's ALOT of work. I gave up and got some Wilwoods...

i am working on something at the moment to make it a bolt on solution (current setup that i'm running isnt a direct bolt on)

The mitsu 3000GT setup I posted a few pages back isn't either, but it doesn't require custom rotors, so it's an option as well for some people.

my setup has many advantages - 295mm rotors within the stock 16" wheels, you can source the calipers (rx7 ones), you can source the lines, reuse the rotor hat and only replace the disc when required. my kit will provide bracket, hat and rotor as a minimum.

sounds doable. I love my BBK but then again running at the track will be a pain to swap due to disc size and slicks fitment.

Ya I can't run slicks either. I'm gonan run some RA-01's or something that'll fit my spare 17's for drag racing.

not only will my bbk work with the stock 16, it'll also work with high quality 15's as seen with my volk te37's (15x7.5) which is great news for autox and drag guys
