i seen a speed 6 that was white in nicholasville heading to lexington.. it has been awhile! but it was right when they first dropped

I think dark red. It was night and I was turning from Eastern onto Bardstown, and there it sat at the light.

Changing subject. Going to be in Somerset for lunch, today. My buddy is going to meet me there so he can finally see the RX-7. I think we'll eat at the Cracker Barrel. If you're there and see a little red FC RX-7 parked away from the crowd of cars, that would be me. :-) If you really get the urge, I'll be the old guy sitting with a red headed guy. Join us. We'll be talking cars, airplanes, etc. :-)

500 lb. ANFO bomb in an '87 RX-7

This just occured to me for the first time since I bought my Mazda. It's a little disturbing. I attended a Department of Homeland Security class at New Mexico Tech in Socorro entitled Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings (I'm a firefighter in the 'Ville). As part of the class we actually built a 500 lb. Ammonium Nitrate - Fuel Oil car bomb in the back hatch of an '87 (I think) RX-7 with "princess" painted on the hood. Rotary parts everywhere. I'll try to get the video up somewhere.

Now, that kinda pisses me off. We FC RX-7 owners could have used that car for an engine swap! You could have used some old Ford or Chevy to prove the point just as easily. :-(

BTW, my son would love to get on with the L-ville fire department. He went for the test, last year. He works when he can at the Danville fire department, now, if his day job hasn't ruined that for him.

Didn't mean to piss you off, I agree it was a sad event. I actually try to think of it in terms of the car making a final contribution to society. The cars they use are destined to be crushed anyway, so...

It just so happens that I am one of the training officers for the LFD, so if he came to any of the practice sessions, he saw me. And if he gets hired, I'd be training him for 26 weeks. Tell him I said not to give up. It's a great career.

He's been a volunteer for more than ten years. He'd do it full time; but, the opportunity hasn't presented itself. There are just too many who want the job. He'll keep trying, I'm sure.

I took my V8 RX-7 to Somerset so a friend could see it. Got some pointers on what I could do to change some things under the hood. I also topped off the tank so I could get some idea of the gas mileage. I think it's going to get something close to 20mpg with a hopped up LT1 engine. I'm not sure about the oil usage, though. I was told to expect it to use oil. I don't see any leaks and smoke. I hope it doesn't drink it. :-( I'm just now taking time to sort things out with it. By cruise-in time, I'll know more about it.

How bout this weather? Time to schedule a meet soon.

How bout 05/24/2008 or 05/25/2008? Sat vs Sun.

Where?
Tom Sawyer
Iroquois
Waterfront
Cherokee

How bout an install meet? Detail meet?

I am down. Either day, earlier better than later, unless you're talking evening cruise, then I'm still down (translation: 2-6 is bad for me either day, but I really want to attend). Waterfront would be cool, maybe a Southern Indiana cruise, ice cream at Widow's Walk, and really cool evening photos at Ashland park with skyline in the background?
