powndipe

who has a downpipe and what were the gains? worth it? im getting a custom exhaust monday and wanted to know if the dp was a well worth mod. im leaving in the first cat and putting on a custom tbe with only on high flo and megan muffler. i know the 1st stock cat is a cheese grater but am afraid to delete the thing due to the turbo seal. i know ill get some sick gains with what im going with for now but i almost want to just get either the turbo xs dp or the corksport. turbo xs shows like a 50 gain on both hp and tq, corksport the same? any feedback on these numbers and such? thanks guys.

yeah it makes a significant difference. Man, how do you accidentally type "powndipe" when you mean downpipe? lolololol

Removing the first cat isnt going to make your turbo seals go bad.Either your seals are bad or they are not bad.The stock cat and Dp may help mask the problem with a bad seal.I would worry more about your warranty because its hard add and remove the Dp and first cat for service calls. From what Ive read mazda is not ok with tbe systems when your seals do final go out.

ok so i guess ill leave the first cat for now and just put on a flange from the new exhaust incase i buy one. the new dp will fit exactly where the stock cat was....from the turbo to the end of the cat? or is it before the stock cat and bolts onto the cat? im to the understanding it eliminates the 1st cat right? because if thats so ill just put a flange like i said and swap it out upon the finding of a bad turbo if thats the case.

I think the dp bolts to the first cat but some after marker dp have the cat built in.I never did much research on Dp yet.I have read that they are a pita to install tho. When my warranty is over I will add a new header and Dp with a high flow cat.Ive got 24k miles on my car now and Ive had it for about 1.5 years so that will not be that much longer.

im not even going to lie...i dont even know what my ******* warranty is. lol. its the basic so i think its for like 35k or something. honestly....i dont really care. ha.

Personally I'd rather spend $100 and let someone install the DP&RP together and enjoy the rest of my day off doing.

yea i just sent the car in tonight to get the exhaust tomorrow morning....picking it up in the aft. if all goes well ill buy myself some fun time without the dp for now. soon enough i think ill get one though.

ok so the exhaust is in and ready for the dp now. i might have to do some saving for a few weeks but as far as i can tell it just deletes the cat (corksport) from the turbo or has its own built in (cp-e). Can someone confirm nor deny this statement? I want to buy one but cp-e's is about 200 more. thats a big jump. comments?

corksport deletes the first cat. the second cat is on the midpipe which is after the dp. there's no cat in the turbo lol. I did my own dp install and it was fun but stressful. I learned a lot in terms of where stuffs are in the car, but it's nervewreckin unbolting stuff apart. It's worth it if you want more power, but if you rather not worry about your car smokin or throwing a cel then you should stay away from it. I'm in it too deep now. I dont have smoke nor cel, but i'm waiting for it to appear that way i dont disappoint myself when they come.

well i know this. its directly after the dp connected to a flange. thanks for the info. as far as smoke and cel's well my cel has been on for a little while but its been goingon and off for some time now. i think it has to do with the car leaning itself out over and over when i beat on it. its weird because it used to go off and on every few days but recently its stayed on. ill just reset it then see what happens. if it doesnt reset ill take it in for the dealer to reset it. but yea ive heard great things about the dp. and the negetives of smoke. hopefully the catch can will save the excess smoke until i need to get the turbo rebuilt by PG soon after the dp. lol. just make sure i have enough for both when i buy the dp. haha.

another question that i asked that wasnt answered.....turbo xs or corksport? i know people with the corksport and say its sweet....but what about the turboxs? i know a lot of their other s*** is clutch for this car....their dp has nu,bers and dynos to it too.....coments?

Id go for the corksport.
I was on one of the other forums, and someones midpipe came apart where the flex pipe is. It just so happens that the downpipe also has a flex pipe, and it looks to be connected the same way as the midpipes. You'll have to wait a little for the corksport if its still on backorder, but quality parts are worth the wait.

I'm not down with smoking or CEL's so if I just did the Race Pipe and the catback system would I notice any gains? if so how much?

when i bought my cs dp, ken told me that cs is a good design since it's a divorced gass design....supossedly u get a better flow since the gases are seperated....better turbo spool maybe?

Turbo XS

On the topic of turbo xs, anyone know the gains from just the stealthback system ( DP & RP). Worth it? Also would adding a high flow cat to this system prevent CEl's?
