alright am a first time driver and was thinking or might get a p5

the car has 54k miles with red paint, black wheels, exhast system, tinted,,,triptronic transmission

the guy is asking $8000 but i could drag him down to $6500-$6800

the only problem it has a restored salavaged title where it was hit from the driver side but its fixed

any suggestions from the EPXRTIEEES!?

That's pretty low miles for an '03, so that still might be a good price, depending on the mods too. I was hit on the driver's side, got two new doors, and haven't had any residual issues. I'd say definitely try to offer lower if there's any way you can guage the interest from other potential buyers. Good luck, and the guys are all real smart on here, so you'll be in good hands if you bring her home.

  • Seems kinda high for a salvage title.
  • A salvage title will kill you on resale (which is why it seems high)
  • Are there any pictures of the left side of the car in the ad? (red flag)

triptronic transmission

is that really what you want because if you want to shift the gears yourself you should hold out and get an honest manual transmission.

many people end up regretting getting an automatic down the road (others do not) if they really wanted a manual. just be sure you get what you want the first time around and look into that salvage title as we obviously can't even see the side that was hit.

Yeah bro, that is a high price. I just bought mine a little over a month ago and paid $5500. Granted, mine had 100k miles, but yours has a salvage title. So I think those negate each other. Throw in the aftermarket wheels and I could see $6000, but not $8000. I wouldnt even go with $6500 unless you absolutely have to have it.
Besides, you really want a manual anyways(eekdance)

He's smokin crack!

That's way too high for a salvaged title!

Also if go-fast mods are in your future they will be limitted without a manual tranny!

+1 I dont regret my automatic but I still wish i would of gotten a stick isntead. I settled for a auto thinking I was going to be dealing with a ton of stop and go traffic downtown at my new job... then the monkies put me on night shift( 2 years and going on night shift) so now I have no traffic.... However its also good for my grandma who bums my car all the time.

will i dont feel am ready for a 5spd yeat... need to learn it :P .... but really thats to ezpensive for salavged??... you guys dont know how hard it is here to buy a car... dealers are fkn thieves and provate sellers have their cars priced at KBB which their prices are redicously high priced.... I really want P5 ...a really cheap and nice looking sport hatchback..... i asked about $6500 and he didnt want it.. i tried all i can to make him agree!!... i actually also prefer tripronic they help ppl like me get used to manual...!!.....but what suggestion you guys think that i could find a good P5 for??

driving a manual isn't hard and you might as well just bite the bullet and get it over with. it might sound overwhelming to learn driving and shifting at the same time but that's what i (as well as countless others) did and it's really not a big deal.

i think that price is probably ok if it's not a salvage title. to me salvage = i'm not spending any money on it.

where do you live? also how old are you? if you're young have a parent do the negotiating for you, it'll go much better. if you really want a P5 def keep an eye out in the FS section, also if you give some more info others can keep an eye out for you/possibly suggest another car more suited to your needs/price range.

I'm not entirely sure how a triptronic helps you get used to a manual. That's like saying Need for Speed or Forza helps you learn how to drive a manual. So figure out what you want, but don't pretend that a triptronic is going to teach you how to use the clutch and pull of heel-toe downshifts, etc. If you're stuck in traffic jams (or will be) ALL the time, the automatic will be nice. If you want to get the most fun out of the car, the manual is the way to go.

hahaa i know triptronic is not gonna really help me... but the prop is we dont have a manual car and all of my friends/dad friends busy on weekdays and weekends

i live in tucson, Arizona.... and i found this car actually in PHX cuz there is like no P5 for sale around here...most dealers here sell junk and over priced... private sellers over price their cars too

The salvage title is a deal killer. If nobody will sell for a reasonable price around PDX, expand your search a bit.
