Anyone have an OBDII reader? ...issue with ABS again.

The ABS light on the P5 is on again. Amanda says it tries to engage ABS in the morning then disables it (or something to that effect)...but the light is always on now. Anyway, I've still got the extended warranty on it but it will cost $100 for someone to look at it regardless of whether they find something wrong. So I'd like to do some leg work ahead of time...since the last time this happened the light magically turned off when I took it in.

...and on a side note, will the OBDII report the error if the CEL isn't going on? Howe else can I diagnose this?

Autozone will read your code for free. But I have an OBD-II scanner! Come on over, though I"ll be out of town Friday thru Sunday evening. If you want to stop by and pick it up from one of my roommates while I'm out, you can do that too.

im pretty sure a scanner will not pick up a code if there is no light on as the ecu doesnt see it as a problem anymore so doesnt output that as a code

codes are stored and codes can be thrown without lighting up the CEL (or at least my old "Catalyst below efficiency level" codes were stored regardless of the light being on or not as it would go off and on). the bigger thing i worry about is whether an ABS code is within the OBD spec or if that is a different system

According to the service manual you need a special connector to read the ABS module. They do show a manual way to test. Not pretty though

Ok...so does this mean I have to go to the dealer? What is a pro scan tool, and does anyone have one of those?

you might as well go to a dealer...where are you in MA though? my friend owns a shop and has the $10,000 scanner for abs...

let me call my buddy tomorrow, his shop may be able to reset/read it...you might have to go to the dealer chris....i post it tomorrow around 9

Ok. Got my summer wheels on this afternoon. Definitely need to install some new springs...she looks like a monster truck!

Yes, but they are out of stock. There are two options actualy. Option 1 drops front and rear 0.5" and they are in stock. Option 2 drops the front 1.1" and the rear 0.75" and those won't be in stock for a few weeks. I think I'm going to wait for them because I definitely need more than a 0.5" drop in the front. FYI, The Megan springs I had on last summer had a 2+" drop.

i agree, you want the lowest drop without the rubbing/ride issues, you can install them here if you want?
