ok i need some help. i am deciding on what car to get next. i have narrowed it down to 3 choices. 07 ms6 with 7kmiles, 03 evo with 60k miles, or a new ms3. the evo is my favorite but it is the most used with almost 60k miles comes stock except for a TT and boost gauge. the ms6 is stock. both of them are selling for about the same price. then the ms3 which i like but i would rather have a sedan than a hatch. it is also the most expensive. if you have some input please post.

I'd vote down the evo right away. With that mileage, you'll be replacing a lot of expensive wear and tear performance parts.

As far as the ms3 vs ms6, both have their issues and both have their strengths. Overall I think the ms3 is a stronger package. You'll get a better deal on the ms6 though.

EVO. Sure it has some expensive replacement parts but that will only be an issue if you have to replace them all at once. 60K highway or street driven miles makes a huge difference in parts longevity.

Another thing about buying used "performance" cars. You never know how the previous owner drove them.

That evo could have had the piss driven out of it for 60k miles, making it a gigantic time bomb.

Screw the evo...This is a Mazda Forum ;)

Go new...Go Mazda...If you can't score a new MS6...Go with a new MS3...Either Mazda is an awesome car for the money and you'll have a great reason to stick around this awesome community! :D

where's the "other" option? i don't like any of the choices

what are you looking for in the car? sportiness? practicality? will it be a daily driver? how long do you plan to keep it?

what color is the ms6 that your looking at since u said it has 7k miles so i'm guessing your looking at a specic one? i'm guessing when u say new ms3 u have all the colors available. it really depends on what you want. test drive both of the zoom zoom's and go from there. evo's are very nice and i love them, i'd only buy an evo if a friend had it so i knew everything that went on. but the fun part about the evo is when you do have to replace parts you can always upgrade to stronger and better parts. jmo!

I'll say this....and this is the way I always look at getting a used performance car. If I owned an evo...even if I babied it for all 60K miles, if I had to get rid of it I'd drive the crap out of it before it left my driveway for good. I'd go with the MS6 myself. Cheaper, sedan, AWD, low miles.....

i was nice to my evo before letting it go :)

fwiw i believe there is a fairly major service at 60k on the evo. fluids, timing belt, all that fun stuff. make sure that's been done before even considering it. also the 03s are the buggiest and simplest. chances are if its lasted this long it's fine but ask to see if it's on its first clutch, any major warranty work that's been done, etc...

also i'm sure you know already but the 03s have a smaller turbo than the 05+, have no front LSD and have the traditional mechanical center diff. for this reason along with the first release issues they experienced they usually go a little cheaper. i'm thinking you're looking at around $18k for yours?

MS3!!! I used to not like the hatch at all (I had the Mazda 3 sedan) but now I love it!!!

yeah the ms6 is an 06 and has 6800 miles on it. its titanium. the only color ms3 that i want is the red one. as for the evo the only thing that has me worried is not knowing how the previous owner took care of it. evo is going for 18k, ms6 is going for 19 and of course the ms3 for 24. it will be my daily driver. i drive around 15k miles a year so i need something realiable. i am also thinking about a 07 wrx it has a 18k miles and is going for 19k. yeah i am looking for a daily driver but something that is sporty. i plan on driving till it dies. just like my mp3 and silverado. truck has 121k and mp3 has 89k miles.

i vote for the wrx but you'll hopefully be able to get it cheaper than that. or look around for a slightly older one.

ms3 no doubt. i must saying after finally owning the car, i made the right choice. there is not one bad thing i can say about the ms3

there are a couple 04 for under 14k but they have above 75kmiles. i also kinda like the styling on the 07. i am trying to decide by the end of the week.

beware of the evo, just because it "says" it only has a TT and a boost gauge, most people with those cars who have those two items have reasons to have those two items, meaning there were probably some other performance parts installed and then removed

as long as it has the 2.5 instead of the 2.0 you're good. 2006+. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subaru_Impreza_WRX#Rev._F_.282006.29_2

it's pretty easy to check. it's a 5 year old car with 60k on it. if parts look new (hoses, bolts, etc...) or like they've recently come off then there's reason to suspect otherwise. you can also take it to a mitsu dealer where i believe they can check the ECU to see if it has been reflashed which is the simplest, most common mod. though iirc not all years can be detected. a TT and boost gauge are very simple mods that don't really do anything so to say for sure that because they have those they did other things is a little bit of a stretch but it is at least a sign to poke around a little more
