hey guys is your ash tray light constantly on??? i can see mine shinning around the lid. does everyones do that

Yes. There is no switch on the door like a refrigerator. I am planning to capitalize on this by picking up power from the light for the coil of the foglight relay so I can run fogs and parking lights, but still have the fogs go off with the main light switch.

It goes on when you turn on the parking lights. Same with the glove box.

Another place to tap is off of the orange/light blue wire in the large green plug off of the PJB... position K I believe. That is hot with the parking lights.

Mine does this too and it drives me crazy. It isn't as noticeable when the ashtray is in because there's a red filter/film over the bulb, but then you don't get as much storage space.
Has anybody purchased the ashtray insert? Does it have the red filter/film on it as well?
