Lime Rock Park-Mazda Corral

FYI to all planning to attend. This year will be even more exciting to watch as the track is under going major construction this spring. They are redesigning as well as repaving the track. They straight away will be a true straighaway as well as widening certain areas to keep drivers on the track.....
It's been something that they have needed to do for some time and I myself am very excited to see these races on the 'new' track. Its should make for an even more exciting weekend.

I heard about that...and its funny because I distinctly remember having a conversation last year about how Skip Barber wasn't going to touch the track.

We are working on pricing now guys, so stay tuned for updates and special events...

In regards to Lime Rock Park...

Skip Barber had no intentions on re-paving the track until later last year. He faced financial difficulties and could not afford to do. Rumor has it that Paul Newman approached Skip Barber last year and offered to buy the track from him but Skip turned his back and walked away. Skip then came up with his own way to save the track-- the Lime Rock Club (www.LimeRockClub.com). The Lime Rock Club offers people the opportunity to buy a membership (which grants them track time for 50yrs) for a one time fee of $100,000. and monthly dues of $500. This revenue will go towards making various improvements such as re-paving the track and a new Media Center to name a few. The track will be closed in the month of June for the re-paving so don't get your hopes up expecting to see a "new" track for Grand AM weekend.

Rumor has it that the track is having a difficult time selling the goal of 300 memberships. I've heard that people are backing out last minute and are asking for their money back.

Hopefully that makes sense, if not oh well. I just worked a 10hr shift at the hospital and am exhausted!

Just go off of the phone with John Doonan, they will be working on special ticket prices for the Mazda Corral next week, so stay tuned. We will have a few surprises in store for you this year.

I hope the website to order the tickets is better than last year.

We'll get it all straight, when the time comes. So far guys we have 100 cars and 119 people atrtending the event. Also, we are going to list NEPOC as one of the primary sponsors of the event.

Mazda Owners Club of America will be promoting the event as well and once we start going full out, we may have 200 cars or more. I want thank you guys for stepping up and participating in the 2nd annual LRP event. All of the teams are looking forward to checking out corral and all of the Mazda support from us.

See you all soon.

Pricing Update

Here's is my e mail to LRP

Hi Marlon,

Thanks for touching base. I am excited to have Mazda return to Lime Rock Park. You can work on the corral parking area with Scott Mayo, our Operations Manager, who I have copied on this email. Regarding tickets, at this time we do not have a link set up for purchases. However, you may contact Heather Nocera, our Administrative Assistant, to purchase tickets. I have copied her above as well (info@limerock.com).

Additionally, I am providing you with the proper affiliate codes for each day of the event. When a call is made to purchase tickets, the corresponding code must be presented to Heather in order to receive the correct rate. The codes and prices are as follows:

Friday, May 23 GAGTMAZDAFRI $15.00

Saturday, May 24 GAGTMAZDASAT $25.00

Sunday, May 25 GAGTMAZDASUN $15.00

Monday, May 26 GAGTMAZDAMON $40.00

Weekend GAGTMAZDAWKND $75.00

Is there any hospitality planned for the corral? I have some documentation of a 30x40 tent for Mazda last year, but let me know what the plans are for 2008. I would be happy to set this up for you. I look forward to working with you, and please let me know if you have any questions.

Best regards,

Alex

I will advise you guys when the order site is up, in the mean time you can call direct and order your tickets. We are still working on a few things, like the budget, so stay tuned.

Weekend is actually Friday to Monday. Note that even if you do Saturday to Monday, you still save $5 if you get the weekend pass. Pretty good value.
