Airless tires the future?

With availability in 10-15 years, they must have problems they are not mentioning.....

I would be concerned about the failure mode. If you lose a link, do the rest fail like a zipper? When a conventional tire goes flat, it does not go off center. This tire would shift by the distance from the rim to the tread. Can you imagine how violent that would be at 70mph? Color me skeptical.

Clearly they haven't developed a low-profile concept yet. Did you catch the profile on those Audi tires? Looks like they're gonna go 4-wheeling after the track test.

sounds like the pax system that they tried to use for a couple minutes on Honda Oddessey's and a couple of other cars. it won't go over well. it also depends on how easy they can be installed on wheels. the pax system took an hour a wheel maybe 45min if you were lucky.

there are probably a dozen threads about this over the last couple of years i think i remember seeing this 2 years ago...
