Corksport Downpipe and Mid-Pipe Installed!

Drove around quite a bit today, no CELs or any issues. Just (what seems to be) more power!!! What's the theory behind the divorced wastegate being better? I pretty much just went with corksport because it appeared to be good quality, was the cheapest by far, and had a nice sound.

You say you're hitting 19PSI in 5/6th. However, I don't see any type of Boost Cut Killer or Map Clamp in your sig. Can you verify this?

Boost cut happens at 18PSI on our cars so in order to hit 19PSI you will need to have a Map Clamp or BCK in place.

18 or 19, pretty sure it was 19. My boost levels haven't been totally consistent either. When going through all of the gears it seems like I get a little more boost spike than just hammering it from a roll in a gear. I got a stuttuer/pop at 5500rpms or so in 5th the first day I drove it...it was cold out (like 50). Today it's like 70 out and have had zero problems. I'm pretty sure my boost gauge is accurate, it's always been really consistent and reads right at zero when the car if off, etc. I'm about to go to Sam's so I can test it again on the way there.

does it cut at 18psi regardless of other conditions (humidity, temp etc)?

If you hold 18PSI for more than a couple seconds your car will stall so hard it will toss your forward. Boost cut is pretty brutal when it happens.

When you stutter its more like a bunch of misses in a row.

Believe me, when you boost cut you will know the differance

I'm not saying you're not hitting 19PSI. Basically I just want to verify it. It would be really cool if you can hit 19PSI without a Map Clamp or BCK as that would mean the ECU is adjusting for the added mods.

I think Laloosh used to get fuel cut with his forge bpv, but would be fine with the stocker. I wonder if maybe mine (stock bpv) starts leaking a little once it hits ~19psi and somehow avoids it. Laloosh might have had a TMIC too i can't remember

Just a little update, 170 miles since I installed it: Things are still running great, no CELs or problems. Boost seemed to be not very consistent (sometimes holding 1-3 psi higher than before, sometimes just spiking and going back to same as before, etc) and I had a pop/stutter in 5th gear. But now things have kind of settled down and boost seems very consistent. It pretty much holds the same boost as before the DP install, but it does spike a few psi more in all gears. ~17 in 3rd and 4th and ~19 in 5th and 6th, but within a second or so it comes back down to around 16 psi (which is what I was getting before). I'm pretty sure the inconsistency was due to the computer still 'learning' and adapting to the new hardware. Regardless, 3-5th gear (haven't gone fast enough for 6th really) feel noticeably stronger and I'm really liking the better/more aggressive sound. Wish I had better data to back it up like a dyno or track time, but others have proved this before I guess.

The donut gasket is jacked up? How bad? Got a pic? Do you have the mid pipe that you could "hold up against it" and see if there might be potential problems?

I should have explained this better sorry, the waste gate or upstream side. I would show you a picture but I am not sure how and i will probably throw things in frustration. 'Cmputer illiterate'. But the divorced pipe flange with the five bolt connection is not a flat surface as it should be, the heat pulled and it appears to be out of flatness about 3/32s from outside to outside edges. It sounds like yours is fine and glad you are pleased. If you dont see what I mean I'll try to get a pic. Thanks for patient response and again appreciate post up!

Was this after you installed it or before? If it was before just call corksport.

Good job on that aaronc7 , I think it's pretty commendable for you guys that claim not to have any experience to start taking some of the peripherals apart. The only thing I hope is that when you use Home Depot bolts you use the same grade or higher, I have seen too many kids put engine parts together and cut corners when it came to the fasteners (nuts and bolts), only to pay the price later for a 32c part.

How can you tell? It looks to be pretty much identical to the bolts that came with it...just 10mm longer

normally on the head of the bolts there will be patterns on the top. you shouldnt have a problem with them beacuse its the exhaust its not a high torque area, as long as the bolts can handle the heat it should be good.

Ja Tag, so many have talked about exhaust fumes and I suppose I am saying it looks like this flatness would not allow a good seal. I will email the Cork and see what they think . No more thread jack c7 apology

The fumes they are talking about is due to no cats. It's unspent fuel not being burnt up.

No I work 9-5:30 so don't want to tackle it at 6:00 just in case I can't put it back together. I'm going to shoot for Friday or Sunday.
Any boost/fuel cut problems?

Neg...it spikes a psi or two more but then drops down to about the same psi. No fuel problems or any problems whatsoever. Can't wait for the catback and Cobb stage 2!
