Help!!! I Dunno Whats Wrong

with lack of power I would expect a leak after the turbo, before the intake manifold.

How big was that metal piece you found?

So here our my mods... TurboSmart Dual port and Cobb SRI.

Right now i have a huge loss of power and my turbo is whining like a supercharger. Something is definately wrong. My BOV doesn't even actuate. I thought it was my SRI loose but then i took it all apart and i noticed a peice of metal in the inside of the turbo inlet pipe.... i have no idea what the hell it was from. I installed all my mods but i did it with the utmost care. Could it be a turbo seal? I DONT KNOW. HELPPPP! i put the car back to stock and i'm taking it to dealership tomorrow.

Why you need help?, they are going to help you in the dealership,, you have a bad shaft in the turbo, that's the whining, put it stock again the best you can and good luck

agreed bad turbo, pry a factory defect it happens. take it to the dealer in stock form and no worrys.
How many miles are on your car?

s***! I hope this wasn't the Cobb SRI that caused this (boom04)
The Cobb SRI shouldn't cause any problems if installed probably right??

I've been running the Cobb SF intake for about 20k miles with zero issues.

sorry 'bout your issues man. Hopefully the stealership won't try to f$ck u

How long / difficult was it too put the stock air box back on?
Would like to know just incase my turbo breaks like yours appearently did...
Man, sorry about the bad luck!!!

I wouldn't worry though it will be covered under warrenty :p

How could an intake possibly be the cause for a turbo breaking??
If there was a piece of metal that was left in the Tube from when it was cut.....or for any reason that may not have been cleaned out when it was manufactured...It could have came loose and went through the Compressor.

Do you have any idea how small it would have to be to destroy a turbo tavelling at upwards of 80K RPMS.
Tiny..small particules could take out a compressor wheel.

Good point, thank you!

just dropped it off at the service dept, and just by hearing what i was saying he said that it could be the turbo seals. he said that most likely hes going to have to replace the turbo. the man said that he went to a mazda convention(?) or something to talk about known problems and they say that this is happening to all the speed3s and 6s. The hot side of the turbo seals are totally blowing out.

Word to all of you with the speeds, go get it checked out or replace it on your free time rather then letting it blow out on you when you are busy.

How many miles do you have?

Always clean the hell out of any parts before purring them on the car.

service dept. called me back and said that my turbo was starting to go. they are replacing the whole unit with a updated one. thank god! hopefully all is well afterwards. it better not take long..... i suggest everyone freaking get the new one before they're turbo fails.

haha im taking mine in wednesday morning for them to look at it(crosses fingers) lol

I think you lucked out on this, sounds like debris got sucked in vanes. not seals. Be quiet and thankful!

it dont have to be something getting sucked in either! it could of developed a lil shaft play and cause the wheel to hit the inside of the housing. i have seen a few vws do it lol

do yourself a favor and erase this thread or change your location before the Mazda rep starts searching the site.

If you cleaned it that well. I highly doubt it was the intake.
