What is the MS3's intended racing "purpose"?

Just been thinking. We know the STI is rally bred, as is the evo. Mustangs are made pretty much for straight lines as was the F150 lightning. Well, I see some people drag racing their MS3s, but with that really short first two fears and the limited boost on them, it makes me wonder what would be the 'best' racing option for the MS3. Whether intended or not. I'm not familiar with all the styles, but I believe a track race where you're not really stopping/going or worrying about a perfect 'launch' would be best. Good pavement and turns methinks would really benefit this car. Maybe hills since the torque seems to kick in at a lower RPM? Just wondering what scenarios would make it feel 'at home'.

It's also good at highway roll races but I'm not going there its illegal and frowned upon in this community..,

i love taking my ms3 into the mountains of wv... the beefy broad powerband is right at home with the hills and turns. It's a blast to drive there

Road course/circuit is definitely the inspiration. Phenomenal handling characteristics and plentiful power yield a car that is well suited to drive left/straight/right.

Autocross is good but could be better. Need more wheel options for D Stock. 18x7 is terrible. Top mount hurts with heat soak. Especially if you get a re-run and don't get a change to cool everything down. Lost 2 seconds last Sunday from that.

Suspension is tight stock you don't see much body roll and weight transfer is pretty smooth. Having an LSD is great.

I think even with boost limited in first and second we put down 220 brake.

For what you pay for an MS3 you get a lot of car. Hopefully I can catch up to those STI's and M3's.

I believe the MS3 shines on a road course...not so much autocross. There are two things that really help the MS3 in autocross though, high torque at low RPMs and the steering/accelerator nanny that doesn't let you have full power while turning the wheel... (lol2)

But if you have an open track, the MS3 is in its glory...
(though in my opinion, it needs stiffer springs and shocks at high speeds)

It would also help if the throttle stayed open all the way up till the rev limiter. That would make second gear great!

personally i love it on the road course. i have dragged, autox'ed it and run road courses with it. thee car just shines on the road course.

It wasn't made with a racing purpose, it was made by mazda so they could attract the srt-4 fan boy types, who are now MS3 fanboys

Got my ass handed to me. I'm still on stock wheels and tires but that should change next event. I'm very under-modded for stu. I'm only on my 4th event but I can tell I'm starting to get the feel for it a little more every time out.
