fuel pump finally working....im stoked kinda

Well thats great news. I think that will suit the community and get the most working pumps out there...... thats pretty cool. Glad thats settled:)

Hmmm so now that Ive got a pump, and this is my thread, lets change the subject.

I want a new snail....Ken lets talk...lol

hey everyone, been going back and forth with mrlilguy (jonathan) for the last two weeks about these pumps. they've been driving me crazy and i've been losing sleep about it and how disappointing its been.

its no mystery that jonathan feels we made installation errors causing the pumps to fail. i have no problem with that being part of the public discourse and will not attempt to argue otherwise. my employees do not agree with this assessment but ultimately that does not matter. what matters is getting a working part to a customer and having them be satisfied with the product. when we don't do that, it reflects on us and in the end it reflects on me. my employees do not believe assembly errors were made, but is no longer of any relevance to me or to the matter. after talking with mrlilguy i am convinced he is the better man for this job, not us.

i will not be competing with jonathan on this product. jonathan and i have arranged to sell the pumps through Protege Garage so that he is not saddled with paying a seperate AV fee, paying transaction fees, and so that he can take advantage of the pricing we have secured with Autotech and with Mazda. I am going to make sure he gets the best exposure and pricing possible as well as availability to the parts so that the cost can stay down for the community and lead time can remain as reduced as possible.

Another reason you are the only vendor ill make purchases through :)

thanks guys.

new turbo hmm? well i have two options i can think of which will best suit your car so when you're ready give me a jingle.

Ken, you will no longer be building the pumps? These will be built by mrlilguy157 and sold through your store?

So does this mean that the fuel pump upgrade is going to cost $549 as opposed to what it was? Does this also mean that we can't order then send back out core? No more lifetime guarantee either?

This is kind of disheartening. I can't deal with any downtime on my car. It's my only mode of transportation and I'm off 2 days a week, but those days are always separated. No sort of warranty beyond 30 days is pretty tough too. I think that is the biggest thing that will keep me from ordering one now. :/ I'd hate to get one and find that 6 months down the road it s**** the bed and I'm out of luck.

+1
I cant have any down on my car and i only get off sat. and sun.

we've worked things out and are getting cores for the exchange program. he is able to get them much easier than I am, and that will be available to any and all customers. There may end up being some wait time as we will only have 4-8 cores on hand at any given time, if that...

The price will be up higher, but its because of the rigorous testing that I'm doing, which was never done in the past. This ensures no faulty pumps get into the field.

I will do lifetime warranty. Further thinking, there is no reason not to once I prove that the upgraded pump will work... This is one of those things, if it works, it works, if it doesn't, it doesn't. I'll be revamping the website soon, with new details and edited questions and concerns.

feel free to PM me or call. Any consumer out there needs to realize that I am the parts guy, not PG, so any questions should be asked directly to me.

Nicely done, Cap'n K. Considered going into politics?

Very nice. I appreciate the quick response. I'll have to get a bit more money saved up and I'll be ready. If it's $550, I need another $150. :) I'm not too worried about any sort of a core charge as long as the refund is quick. :D

Haltech, your info is appreciated, however my questions are legit as PaleRider's post states this - "Mine was one of the lucky ones that never seized..." I understand there could/maybe was some install error, but Pale's post, as well as others on this forum indicate the failure rate was not totally install error nor totally build quality, but a bit of each. Therefore questioning the build quality of a 549.00 part should be understandable, especially for those wondering the same thing I am.

Jon and I have been in contact, so all should be good.

...and thanks Jon for the info, you've been excellent.

Yes, I hate to charge more, but really, I have to. The time invested in each pump upgrade and installation/guarantee, as well as the gas for all of those WOT runs, adds up. Thankfully, I WILL be able to work with Ken to offer the core exchanges and outright high performance-50% over stock flow-CDFP's.

Core exchange refund is awarded AFTER receipt of the pump in my hands from the original buyer.

If anyone has any questions, let me know so I can post them on the site (if needed) with a thorough answer to help with any curiosity among fellow Mazdaspeeders...

Thanks!

No problem. As stated, any questions NEED to be asked so I can address them publicly for everyone. Also, there will be no seizing pumps under my watch!

I understand the work you're putting into this. The price isn't too much of an issue, I just have to save a few more pennies.

I'm glad that you'll be able to do the core exchanges, because that is one thing that is critical for me. Even if I have to have you toss $1000 on my credit card and refund $450 once you get my pump that is fine by me.

One last question... When do you expect to have cores available? :D

5 cores here by the middle of next week, or the end. Hi flow parts within 2 weeks.

If I get my pump, I'll have a core back the next day mrlilguy. You can add that to the list.

And keep the refund.... we can put it toward a gtXXXX Ive havent decided yet.

But what I have decided is Im not gonna do all those pussy spark plug, map clamp, spriggy pulley mods. Im buying a ******* turbo.

this has been discussed between jonathan and i. if the parts continue to fail under his direction we have locked in another supplier who is very eager to help us with new parts should the need arise.

Nicely done, Cap'n K. Considered going into politics?

i have a minor in political science, majored in history and seriously considered a law degree before just getting a BA in Management. that said, politics does fascinate me and while i'd love to do something like that i know that i don't have the clout or the partisan beliefs that gets one elected in this country. i'm too far outside the mainstream for most people's tastes, liberal or conservative.

back on topic though - i would not offer to sell/market the pump that was being built by someone other than ourselves if they weren't going to back it up as well as we had promised to initially do. i believe in standing by a product and ask the same of those who do business with me.

When I said lucky... I meant that my pump was still functional. It was able to be fixed. The other errors(whatever they were) resulted in failed pumps that were goners after installation.

I think the guys who have had these things for awhile will attest to the fact that having them on the car IS GOOD... for performance and longevity of the engine. I cant imagine all the fuel cut I get in the cold is making things better.

Either the pump works or it doesnt. I think if you get one that works the likelihood of it failing is just the same as if the stocker were to. Maybe the stocker might even have more likelihood on a modded car. I dont know.

I'll let the experts sort that one out.
