Free High performance BOV's for everyone!!!

Details on how you tested it, please.

stock form took around 12 psi of vacum to open the valve using a vacum pump/gauge tool "used for testing vacum leaks on engines"
After modification/ pushing top down a 1/4 inch and re-testing it took nearly 22psi to open the valve.
the valve will still work exactly like stock, and open at the same time as stock, it will just hold more boost and requires slightly more pressure to crack it open.
I noticed that the tone of the BOV noise is slightly higher pitched now, and that the boost builds slightly faster and holds more steady to redline compared to stock.

I'm trying this on my lunch break... !

All fails just throw on the forge!
I will take some pics with my camera phone..

...stay tuned!

Thanks !

thanks my NiG! already see boost holding to redline!

... i love free mods...!!!

not too much of a difference with the whole sound...
but i still love it!

Go back to stock??? this is stock!! all its doing is alowing the stocker to hold more boost. why would you ever need to loosen the spring pressure back to stock???? just curious.

That is why I edited my post. You are technically stock, but if you want to sell the ms3, then it may be an issue.

Sell it, or try to convince a service advisor that it had nothing to do with your blown motor. Talk about an excuse to void a warranty.

I have like 3 1g bov's still...hmmm... 1 is even polished, I think I'll try to fit it on! I thought it may work but never tried it...

yeah I did this this cause it seems an easy mod and it works BUT......It will only hold 20 psi for me in 5th gear and the other gear spike 20 and fall steadily to 16. If i up the boost even one more click then i get this flutter\surging bulls***. Nice free mod but i still ordered a forge BPV after doing it.

damn you stole my idea i was trying to post this. i did this to mine a month ago but never get time to post that stuff on here since my computer went down. nice right up. i got the idea of doing this from when back in 1998 i turbo'd my civic and was using a 1g DSM bov and crushed and figured it would work the same on my MS3 just have to be very careful since the 1g's are metal and ours are plastic. damn you beat me to it but it's nice we both have the same idea LOL

i work for mazda so i'm trying to get my hands on another stock BOV and try this idea out don't know if it'll work but basicly turning or converting our stock BOV to not only hold more boost but make it adjustable. i just don't know how well the plastic will hold up or work with a tap but here's my other idea. completely dis assemble if possible the stock BOV with all the guts out of it find a solid washer or spacer and place that on top of the spring. drill a small hole and get a 10mm bolt and tap the hole drilled into the top of the BOV to the thread specs of the 10mm bolt. re-install or put the whole stock BOV back together with the spacer or solid washer on top of the spring. now thread the bolt threw the top using a lock nut or jam nut to keep it from backing out. this will stiffen the spring inside to what ever you want much like making it a GReddy type-s knock BOV or something. i'm going to try this with a stock MS# BOV i'm going to buy from our parts department. i'm going to do a full write up and see if it works or if it fails totally but it's worth a shot. i'm sure i can figure a way to make it work right.
