Map Clamp NO GO

Ok so i recently installed a map clamp. It works and it got rid of the boost cut, but my car threw a cel p0069, so i look it up and its a map cel.

here is the ecu diagram
ecupinout.jpg

this is connector B

Connector 2AG white/green wire is the signal
Connector 2AU green/black wire is the 5v source
Connector 2AV brown/green wire is the ground

Can some1 confirm this information?

I am using a dasmopar map clamp that has 3 wires, black/red/green...common sense told me that red is power, green is signal, and black is ground. After hooking it up, i turn the key to on and i see my dashawk read boost of 6.8, so i turn the screw left first and the boost goes up...i can't get it past 12.3ish no matter how far i turn it. if it turn it clockwise the boost goes down. While drive the dashawk will read the set boost no matter what. Is this how a map clamp is suppose to work? I though it still fluctuates untill the desired boost is hit and then it won't go any further.

Problems: CEL, adjustment seems to be backwards, boost is set in stone, no clamp.

however, my boost cut is gone.

Did i hook this thing up wrong or is the map clamp broken?

from what i read about the code, it is set off when you intially start the car and the boost is out of range, which makes sense being that my DH reads 12.3 constantly no matter what. Once again, shouldn't a map clamp, CLAMP the signal at a desired boost range not just hold it there no matter what.

I believe its suppose to just clamp the signal at the max boost that you set it at. I was also under the impression that any voltage less than clamp voltage still made its way to the ECU. The ECU is definitely going to think somethings up if it sees 12.3 psi at all times. The maps are going to WAY off. Something seems wrong :( Wish I could help more.

x2.

It is my understanding that any voltage emmited by the MAP sensor would get to the ECU, but once it reaches the peak voltage that you set the MAP clamp to, it will hold it there, not allowing it to raise, so the ECU cannot sense the extra boost, influencing boost cut.

Its wierd cause i just messed with it some more and turned it clockwise and the dashawk picks up a signal higher than the set value. Like at idle the DH with the clamp all the way clockwise will pick up -21.3 all the time, then i reved it and it picked up all the boost fine, it just wouldnt go lower then 21.3, i then turned it slightly counter clockwise and it is picking up -18.1 and higher went for a drive and bam boost cut. Turned it some more and it red -15.3 and higher, went for a ride and no boost cut. What i think i did before was completly turn the map sensor off somehow, hence the map code....neway well c if the cel pops up. This is a lil wierd and i think its caused by me assuming i know the way the DH reads boost based on voltage, and i think it reads it based on something else

this whole thing just seems backwards to me, i know it hooked up right, unless green is power and red is signal? hmmm well c what happens

me turning the clamp clockwise makes the DH read lower boost which should be the opposite
me turning the clamp counter clockwise makes the DH read higher boost, which once again should be the opposite, unless the DH reads boost different.

however i remember when i had the cpe ems, it would read boost just fine untill i hit the clamped boost and it would stay there untill i went below the clamp

Ok..Heres your problem..you have your wiring wrong from what I researed and saw....
On the SRT these are used on...
Orange=Power...Which is connected to Black...So black is power

Green is Signal...which connects to Red...Red is signal.

Black is ground....Black to Green....

SO your Map clamp should be

Black = +
Green = Ground
Red = Signal

Look here......

And here....

Hope this helps

your the man, im going to try this when i get home. How the hell is it working wired in wrong is beyond me.

I guess i just assumed wrong
red = signal
green = ground
black = power

lmao who the **** designed this thing
Was i really stupid to think that
red = power
green = signal
black = ground

just download the instructions from the map clamp company. Also, to me I dont think that is backwards. I would think turning the knob to the right would induce more of a clamp, lowering the signal.

My .02$

When you are reinstalling the MAP clamp, you may want to take advantage of the opportunity to take pictures and make a how to.

this is just installed completly wrong and yet it works somehow(peep)

im going to drive my 7 mile commute back to my house and redo this then probably delete this thread out of embarassment or make a clear how to so others dont go through this s*** lol

my buddy who does house electrical work just laughed at me

"green is always the ground idiot"
"red is always positive"
"black is always negative"
"i though you knew cars"

I walked away like a kicked dog lol

Let me know if this works..It would be nice to know..and no need to delete it....
To me..I do a lot of low voltage wiring for work...And I might have wired the way you did if I was just guessing at it....The way you deduced it made complete sense..Their wiring really doesn't

I would NEVER expect a black cable to be a + ...a ground..yes...signal..possibly....but never the + lead.

Go figure.

Good deal....Glad I can help.

And people say I never help out..only bash and Belittle people...W/E.
