LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

amazing that one setting makes that big of a difference.

how did you change your gas air temp map?
It wasn't just one setting. It was the addition of clamps on EVERY vac line, as over time mine had loosened.

EDIT: And the discovery of a broken Exhaust Stud.

I replaced a broken exhaust stud yesterday, and noticed a difference in the way my car drives. It seems a little less responsive. I also noticed that the injector duty cycle has gone up!! This must mean that the Haltech is seeing the correct boost now, and I need a slight re-tune.

My ignition settings are exactly like PDHAudio83's now:

The car is smooth. We will see what this means as more testing goes on. The jury is still out.

@ linux - how did you know what settings to use in the first place for the ignition? IE, where did you get that configuration that you ran with from the get-go?

Also, is there an online version of the manual somewhere?

Haltech's website has some documentation on it. Haltech gives guidelines on how to set it up initially, but the dealer I got my Haltech from said he could choose the Mazda FS on his order form, and that apparently now Haltech sets the basic parameters up for you. He even said it will come loaded with a map that will start the car. (I'm at 4000', we'll see...)

So did you ever find out about this info.

Ya, the Mazda setting in the "preset" triggers seems to fit the FS perfectly, but I myself wont be trying it until spring whenthe car is out f storage...

it's all good, i got that figured out.

now the car just runs piiiiiiiig rich. I gotta learn the SW and create my own tune

you posted this after asking about the serial password no. question. how or what did you learn to fix the problem??? I have been dealing with this for too long now. My brothers computer logged right on, but mine will only load to 99% then ask for the lousy password bulls***. Was the problem with the baud rate or someother port setting and if so what exactly were the settings? Are the settings thru the port setting on the haltech okay to adjust there or do you have to do it thru the device manager?

I am using a "cables to go" brand serial to usb adapter. I heard thru other posts that the "keyspan" brand works better but is more expensive. Anyone have anythin g to say about this stuff???

Do you mind sharing what these settings are?

In the Trigger setup window, change it from Motronic to "Mazda A" or just "Mazda" depending on what firmware you're running.

With that, you need to move your home input to the cam sensor, while the trigger input stays on the crank. Errrrr... Maybe that's backwards. It's in the Haltech Manual, so don't quote me on it.

Yeah, I really want to set up my E6X to use both the Cam sensor, and the Crank sensor for true sequential. Is your's setup like that?

Not yet, but I'm experementing. What size injectors do you have? I'm stickign with multipoint anyway (there a bunch of adv. / disadv. of each) and the adv. of multipoint do it for me. I jsut got off a ******* 6 hour plane trip that was supposed to only take 3 so, I'm grouchy, I'll post details later...

I am using 460cc injectors, wanting the 550cc's for more power. Maybe for the next engine. What are those drop-in 550's again?

Also, what are the advantages you see to multipoint? There is a reason our cars are setup with sequential.

Im running the STi pinks. They're drop in. 575cc actually.

You'll need to run multipoint still. You'll max out your 460's on sequential in no time.

Anyway, I figured out how to run the E6X and E8 in sequential and the reason why many of the other EMS can't run it on this car. Hit me up and we'll test it out sometime and I'll explain it to you.

Sam, it was my understanding that you use the crank signal for the home input and the cam signal for the trigger input in order to run sequential injection, is that correct?
