LinuxRacr's Haltech E6X Log..

Still no cold start problems this winter at all. Haven't had any since 2005 I beleive!!! Goes to show that once tuned to start properly, cold starting is not an issue!

I also replaced my TechEdge WBO2 with at AEM Gauge type (30-4100). I found out that my TechEdge NTK sensor was at end of life, and having the wrong readings at startup due to it's age. This was verified after the swap to the AEM.

Ok, so I may have just made another break-thru in my journey with the E6X, and my MP3. While I was in a frenzy working on 2 server migrations last night, PDHAudio83 (Patrick) called me, and was inquiring about my trigger setup, as he had seen one of my old maps, and there was a difference from his. When I had time later, I started doing some reading in the Haltech Windows Software Manual, and came across some interesting facts. Here are the differences, and what I found about them in my setup:

My setup up until today:

Trigger Input:
Motronic Filter: 0
Reluctor gain: 1

Trigger Edge:
Rising

Home Edge:
Falling

Home Input
Motronic Filter: 1
Reluctor gain: 1

PDHAudio83's Setup (note, he is running 20 PSI daily for 2 years!):

I tried that setup, and my car wouldn't start. Maybe he has tuned his car around those ignition settings, and his works just fine with them.
The settings that are different are:

Trigger Input:
Motronic Filter: 0
Reluctor gain: 0

Trigger Edge and Home Edge:
Rising

Home Input
Motronic Filter: 2
Reluctor gain: 2

Ok, so I changed some settings, and here is what I came up with:

Trigger_Setup3.jpg

What's different?:

Trigger Input
Motronic Filter: 1
Reluctor gain: 1

Trigger Edge and Home Edge:
Rising

HomeInput:
Motronic Filter: 1
Reluctor gain: 1

With my new settings, the car started up. I went for a ride, and gunned it. This ignition was smooth, and I didn't feel the break-up I usually feel in the higher RPM's with my old settings! I have more testing to make sure.

very nice post. I have so much work to do with mine. I've hardly touched in the last two years. Kids.

Confirmed by myself and JDM Sam, it pulls a lot smoother. Now that I have tracked down vacuum leaks, and fixed my ignition signal issues, I need to dyno tune it now.

You and me both. Dyno day?

did the haltech ever prompt you for a password??
I got my engine turned over, and but it sputters out and everything - i can't even connect to the haltech anymore - just says "serial no password" required...

is there some generic serial no password?

Be advised that the change of the trigger settings may affect your ability to start the car. Today I experienced something I haven't experienced in a long time. The car wouldn't start. I adjusted the Fuel Air Temp map, and it started right up. My coolant was over 200 F at that point, because I had stopped at the grocery store.

Nope, never needed a password. Are you connecting with a Serial port, or a USB to Serial adapter?

it's all good, i got that figured out.

now the car just runs piiiiiiiig rich. I gotta learn the SW and create my own tune

The car actually has constant torque now when I step on it. It has NEVER felt like it does now...so responsive! Yesterday, a Saturn Vue (with the 240hp engine from the old Acura MDX) tried to pull away. I was in the other lane behind some other car. As soon as the Vue passed me, I just nailed it in 5th, switched lanes, and sucked him up. The guy was so mad, he did something very stupid. He did some "Fast and Furious" s***, and swerved onto the shoulder to go around traffic? WTF?

Anyway, the car is doing better than EVAR!! (eekdance)

Heh. Those SUV folks are the worst when it comes to being beaten. Some of them really scare me on the road with how they throw all that bulk around.
