Check out the fender vent with the light on the new concepts and look at the tape covered vent on the new 8. Hmmmm....way may have something here.

2. fender vents and bumper holes are nice, but unless Mazda puts some 280-300hp balls in the car (or knocks off 500 lbs), color me not impressed.

We're basically getting the 2 as a Ford Fiesta. I know it's not really the same, but it's pretty close.

95% positive it's only a facelift as most autos get after 4 years or so. So many complain about lack of power in the 8. Personally it does me just fine. I'm not out to win any races, just cruise. Besides, how many 1.3 liter engines do you see producing that much power?

i am...power is the only thing that keeps the RX8 from being a killer STU autocrosser.

We're basically getting the 2 as a Ford Fiesta. I know it's not really the same, but it's pretty close.

did not know that...if it comes in close to the 2200 lbs of the 2, sign me up!

There are only certain things you can do to prep a car for each SCCA class. Fully prepped for the class, the RX-8 doesn't make enough power. Boost is not an option.

mazda has been touting this car as "heavily revised." to me, that signals more than just a new bumper, but i guess we'll see. i think (hope) they realize that slight cosmetic changes aren't going to significantly improve sales, but 350Z or 335i power levels would. i also think (again, hope) that w/ the MS MX-5 coming out, they would try to maintain the RX-8 as the top sportscar in the lineup.

i'd be happier if they'd keep the 1.3 but cut 400 pounds of weight off the car, but a new engine is probably more likely.

One of our techs got back from school and apparantly someone there spilled the beans on what's under the hood of that mule.

A Supercharged Rotory. Yes. S/C. Along with a better oiling system to help them apex seals last longer, the S/C (he was told) puts out 6psi AT IDLE.

Should debut in the 2009 or 2010 MAZDASPEED RX-8.

I hope he wasn't lyin'.....

One source confirms.

"It has strakes in front of the oil cooler vents. Larger opening in the grille. More of a "V" on the bottom. It has different taillights. It has different head lights. And some interior gauge variances.
And yes that is a marker on a vent on the front fender. The rear seems to be a continuous piece, no more black. Slightly higher on the bottom and more Mazdaspeeed looking."
